Just got back from Destin. Sadly did not get to go spearfishing but did find some good info. If you are in Destin you can find some dive spots on the Emerald Coast Reef Association websites. If you plan to take a day trip to Panama City Beach, Call the Dive Locker. There is a guy that does inshore charters for 80 buck a day. or if you are certified, they have other charters. I was planning to find the spanish shanty barge, life boats, and other rubble with a kayak but my kids wanted to go fishing instead. I did get to see some nice groupers and sheephead in the St. andrews state park at the end of the Jetty. Nice place for pictures taking but illegal to spearfish. Okalooska state park by Fort Walton around the abandoned marina makes a great place for catching crabs. Wish you luck.

Hathaway bridge is a place that one charter boat captian suggested but when I went there the water was going out fast. vis was not that great.Hathaway is in Panama city beach though. I would enjoy a few flounder if I could find them. I'll let you know what I find.

There are some wrecks as shallow as twenty to thirty feet in St. Andrews bay. I took a trip down this spring. no luck due to gps was a piece of sh**. If all works out next week, I may attempt to locate them again. I am thinking of a kayak. There are several in bay wrecks along with several wrecks within a mile of the shore. St Andrews bay has several dive structures along Shell Island. Catch a good incoming tide for clearer water. I order a Hot Spot fishing map of St Andrews bay. This will be my third time down to do some spearfishing. I am not the best free diver but have had some luck. Here at home, I enjoy bullshoals. Much betterr than North fork. Destin has been tough to find anyone who does alot of free diving. the Jetties are off limits along with the at least one of the bridges. I have caught a few conversations on here that talk of just kayaking along some of the piers for sheephead. All have to be I believe a certain distance from a public beach.

I have been trying to find something in Destin myself. I haven't got much help. Panama City Beach just down the road has some good shipwrecks in the bay.
