Thanks again the info,
I am in the Waikoloa area now. I did next get to go off shore and shot a mahi at the O Tec buoy. The current was ripping and it was a challenge to make it back to the buoy after the drift from loading your gun. I also did a shore dive at A-bay one of the guys I dove with shot a 35# ulua. I shot at one too far away and nicked its head.
I hope to dive Puako before I go home on Sunday. Drove down the road today after spending the day at the beach with the family.

No Puako is all paved it is just one street with houses on each side. Place of refuge, 2 step is also paved. Most all of the coast is great for snorkeling or diving. The ocean front homes are very high dollar properties and it is like diving in thier back yard. The reefs are great with lot of turtles so many we had to push them out of the way to enter. When you enter take a minute to look back where you enter from so you know where to exit at.
Coastal access in hawaii is a right and there are coastal access points everywhere even at private resports.
I have never rented a 4X4 and I have been there about 5 times there are a few places where I could have used one but they are prety out of the way.
Google Wikaloa resort it is cool to visit it has a Train and a ferry and a musieum walkway as well as statues. The swimming pool is out of this world it is worth a few hours to walk around and explore.
