Akaka Falls Diving

My daughter is working on a small farm near Akaka Falls State park for a few months - Any good shore diving near there? She is just getting settled in, but I would like to get her some information early on so she will make some time to get out and enjoy the water.
Thanks -
Doug

Re: Akaka Falls Diving

I think the Hamakua Coast in general is a great diving coastline. The problem is finding a good place to jump in and having the waters calm enough. Unfortunately with the swells being high (from the North and East) for the past 6+ months, it's been hard to jump in. Making matters more difficult, it's been raining here for the last couple months. Since the Hamakua Coast is full of streams, it's going to be quite murky with the runoff.

I'm hoping soon the swells will drop. I wouldn't mind exploring Laupahoehoe area more.

Lately, I've just been trying to get in and find someplace calm enough.

That is what my daughter is telling me. No sure how long she will be at this location. I think she may make a move after her obligation is up here.
Thanks for the information -
Doug
