Go pro mask mounting

just wanted to share this solution to wearing the headband. Prob. won't work on most mask but I just happen to have this Omer alien mask when I got the camera. Works like a charm, don't even know it's there, bubbles aren't a problem and zero chance of losing it.

Is that the one marginatus made and sold to some people on here or is that one of the connectors gopro supplies?

It's just one of the mounts that came with the camera. I just drilled a small hole and put a stainless #6 nut and bolt in. I did put a couple of washers in the middle so the arms on the mount didn't bend when tightening the nut. First one cracked.

I used the tripod mount (larger base plate - almost an inch) and used a nut to hold it onto my superocchio.

The large base distributes the load well on masks with a lot of surface area / structure above the eyes, like the superocchio.

Lunchmeat--nice job, thanks for sharing :toast:

Not meant to derail, but what other SMALL volume freedive masks do others here use to mount the GoPro to besides the Omer Alien?
(I normally use the Technisub Micromini mask but have been told that this mask will not work with a bolt through for the GoPro.)
Thanks in advance for the advice.

I use the Cressi nano. It is a micromask clone and can be drilled, the skirt pulls back behind the nose piece. The mask has been perfect. I drilled and installed a small SS screw with lock nut, then used marine epoxy putty to make sure it doesn't spin. It took 30 minutes total and works great.
