Re: Are lead weights a problem?

Squirrels eat the lead off roofing to plumbing flashing all the time. I eat squirrels and have for over 40 years. Have only seen one fall from a tree dead without being shot and he missed the limb....

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

It would still be interesting to know if he was out of air. Rock said his bc was dropped back in the ocean but I never saw posted that it sank. With an empty tank it would have been buoyant unless he...

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

So if I dive a wall in Cozumel in 2000 feet of water I should plan on going that deep and have gas for that depth? I can just tell you I plan pretty much every dive in the gulf as a bottomless dive...

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

Look buddy, I don't dive like they do and am not defending them or beating my chest. The point I am making is he (rok) didn't plan to dive to 235' He went that deep to attempt to rescue a distressed...

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

These statements are true but the original plan wasn't to go to 235' as I read it. I don't think anyone intended to go to the bottom but it happened and Rok pushed the limits to try to rescue a dive...

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

Hard to say what happened but their style is not "stay at 160' and string up scamps". I dive the rigs a lot and we bounce dive. Go down get a fish, come up to 40 ft or less. Takes a while to reload,...

Re: Educational Discussion of Michael Reed Accident/Incident

As in most tragic events one thing normally leads to the other or as they say a culmination of errors. I guess I will be the bad guy to come out and say it but had he been following state/federal...

Re: Attack on the Helldivers

807 in 10 years? That's 81 per year in the entire state. I have seen more than that under one oil rig which was probably destroyed by an edict of the Federal government so you need to be posting...

Re: Off-shore charter out of LA

Two six packs are nice if you have 12 guys that want to fish, are hard core (especially for tuna) and don't mind being seperated. Chances are once you leave the dock you won't see half your group...

Re: Where to buy a rig hook on MS coast

Watch those things especially in heavy seas. They will bend and fly off into your boat. We use ropes only due to this. If I were gonna use one of these I would at least tie an inner tube or something...

Re: Is there anyway to predict the current on the MS rigs?

Subscribe to rip charts and use their current overlay. Though not specific to a small area it will give you general areas to dive that have the current you want. Keep in mind you can have a slack...

Re: LA peeps, have you seen this article, and what do you think?

Stick it....here is a video I took less than a month ago. It was taken well under 100 miles from the center of the oil spill. Judge for yourself

Re: LA peeps, have you seen this article, and what do you think?

I would call you a troll but see you have been here a while. Why did you compile all this stuff? Do you have an agenda? I have been eating one eyed shrimp for the last year and they taste better than...

Re: Catamaran trailer loading????

Not sure about Jim but issue with mine is that there is only a chain holding the bow. No winch. In order to keep the boat from sliding back on a steep ramp you have to ratchet srap the front down to...

Re: Catamaran trailer loading????

I have the same boat as you show in your profile pic. 2005 model. I actually ratchet strapped mine to the trailer eye directly below the bow hook on the factory trailer. Did the strapping while boat...

Re: Red snapper eating lionfish in Pensacola

Here is the link

Cozumel 2012 - YouTube

Lionfish being eaten by snapper #1 is near the 2:40 min mark if you don't want to watch the whole boring thing. Once you dive the oil rigs places...

Re: Red snapper eating lionfish in Pensacola

Just got back from Cozumel and the DM's there were shooting the lionfish and feeding to snapper. They had them trained and would follow them waiting for the meal. Got a video of one I will eventually...

Re: Water clarity out of fourchon?

We were out there this weekend for 3 days. Seemed to be a rip/grass line from dirty water to green water at about 15-18 miles out. About 35-40 miles out, depending on direction, was blue water....

I had it done as well 15 years or more ago when it first came out. Over time one of my eyes has lost its vision some. The good thing about that is since I am over 40 this eye is my reading eye so I...
