Re: Catalina Info please

It should be a nice weekend. Slight Santa Ana conditions make for calm seas. Water is green, and cold. But probably better than most of the mainland. Watch out for hoopnetters, since it's the last...

Re: A Preventable Jet Ski Death

I crossed the channel twice that day, and it was not nice either time. I heard the PAN PAN, and the updates as they were broadcasted. Sad story, and completely preventable.

Re: Question: Neptonics dyneema gloves vs Mako cut/puncture resistance gloves

Hexarmor 4018... I love mine. You can find them pretty cheap on Amazon, or eBay. Last pair I bought (as a backup) were $15 with free shipping

Re: Catalina Viz

Hey buddy! Hopefully you got into the fish!

Conditions are fantastic right now on the island. There's some nice yellowtail around the usual spots, just less than there has been all summer. But...

Re: Two Harbors Spearing Labor Day Weekend

The water is a bit green lately, but there's always fish around the usual spots. Fly a flag, or use a float if possible. Lots of traffic around.

Re: First Catalina Trip/speargun length question

Go with a 120, if you work the edges of the reef areas you might encounter some yellowtails or wsb. You'll want a gun that can reach out and penetrate. Also a reel or float line is definitely a must...

Re: WTB Size 6-7 Fins

My wife needed some small foot pockets, and MAKO's were the only ones I was able to find. They are very nice, and you can't beat the price!

No affiliation with MAKO, but I love their suits, and have worn them since they first started making them. I'm about to buy a pair of new 3mm suits for my wife and I. Thanks Dano for always taking...

Re: Cheater tabs, when and why?

My wife needs a cheater tab to load her gun as well. I ordered mine from Dean at Vector Marine. He makes great quality shafts, and makes them quickly.

Mori is always a fantastic option as well.

Re: Lost scuba diver off the rigs in Los Angeles.

My guess is Oxygen Toxicity. They were on Nitrox.

In 100-110 ft of water, most people don't get completely "narc'd". At most, they have a slight case. Past 140 though, it gets pretty much...
