Re: Latest Chance to Kill Lionfish (and get a REAL Reward)

Roger that.

The current action is a pilot program which does not require legislative action. We are asking for the program to be implemented by FWC executive action (like removal of the bag limit...

Latest Chance to Kill Lionfish (and get a REAL Reward)

Over the past couple of years, I have occasionally directed Spearboard members to events or polls that are designed to do "SOMETHING" about the lionfish. My wife has spoken before the FWC and the...

2013 Lionfish Summit - 22-24 Oct 13

Sorry for the cross-post, but I don't think many spearos read the "Invasive Species" forum. Up to 2011, my organization was concerned with increasing artificial reefs in order to increase fish...

Re: 100 lion fish for 1 FWC snapper stamp

You may have misunderstood my previous posts. . . I agree with you 100%. The fact that the FWC has known about the Lionfish problem for 28 years and has done nothing about it except research it to...

Re: 100 lion fish for 1 FWC snapper stamp

Re: 100 lion fish for 1 FWC snapper stamp

Eradication is impossible.

There are multiple studies (and I have first hand knowledge) that show lionfish can be removed from a reef (artificial or hard-bottom) and it takes months for them to...

Re: 100 lion fish for 1 FWC snapper stamp

Re: 100 lion fish for 1 FWC snapper stamp

Maybe the FWC is looking for "out of the box" ideas now, but it took Candy over a year to get the bag limit and fishing license repealed. The FWC actually said it was a legislative matter, and when...

I know of 2 people (.12% sting rate based on number of fish handled). Fortunately, the pokes were not deep. As you can tell by the number of lionfish turned in, these guys are experts.
