Re: Road Trip to SF

Yea, I was considering Santa Cruz, 30 min drive from most jobs and 1 hour to Monterey. The other option would be where you are, San Mateo, and be 2-3 drive from either side. Although that means any...

Re: Road Trip to SF

If you had a choice, would you rather live closer to north side like San Mateo, or closer to reach Monterey and Carmel? The vis is much better at Monterey?

Looks like it's either dive Monterey or anything past Jenner for the most part.

Re: Road Trip to SF

Are there spearfishing spots along the stretch from half moon bay to santa cruz? It seems everything is either very north of SF or very south.

I may be up there in the future and wanted to see...

Re: Today's Conditions Near Crystal Cove

Just went out today to abalone point. Vis was bad on the way out. At the kelp vis was about 7-10, clearer on the bottom. It was a rough day for me, but my partner was fine. The wind swell was pretty...

Re: Today's Conditions Near Crystal Cove

I'll probably do a dive maybe wednesday around high tide, noon time. I'll be by myself, so let me know if anyone wants to head out as well.

Re: San Diego

Rivas, so swell is good to have? It increases vis? I always thought swell and waves churns up the sand and what is good is low swell and high tide.

Re: San Diego

Shores rather than children's pool? I agree on conditions. I think I'll have to try another day.

San Diego

I used to live in San Diego before my freediving days. Now I freedive in OC. I'm heading down there tomorrow and would like some advice on a place to go.

Should I stick to La Jolla? Is there...

Banks Board 2 For Sale

I bought a new banks board 2 and used it once. It is orange and works real well. The biggest different I noticed is how much better it glides through water than my boogie board. Unfortunately, it's...

Re: Veteran divers, how do you choose your place to dive based on vis?

On tempbreak, I assume the lower the chloro #, the better vis?

Veteran divers, how do you choose your place to dive based on vis?

So the other day I went to check out T-street, a place I've never been to. The vis was basically 1 foot, so it was a wasted dive. I saw on magicseaweed that the conditions (swell) seemed calm so...

Re: Banks Board Mesh Bag

That would be perfect except I really want something similar with the zipper access instead of draw string. I'm still looking but nothing so far. Thanks for the link though.

Banks Board Mesh Bag

I can't quite afford a banks board yet, so I'm using a boogie board. However, that zippered bag the banks board uses seems pretty ideal. Did he custom make that bag? Can we get that anywhere?

Re: Kymera?

This fits in a standard car trunk, which could be ideal for those that don't have trucks to load kayaks and such. The cost is high though. If it goes down to $2000, it might be in the range of SUPs.

Kymera?

Has anyone looked into the Kymerajet? I wonder if that can be used as a replacement boogie board. It's not out yet, but maybe this year. The runtime is about an hour, so more of just getting you to...

Lobster area @ Seal Beach

Anyone ever try the seal beach jetty area? The charts seem to show only a depth of 10 feet or so. I was planning to go tonight (east jetty), but let me know if you think it might be a wasted trip.

Re: Crystal Cove Report 8/30

I don't typically eat them, but my gf loves them. I usually just take them out, put them on some bamboo sticks to dry, chill it in the fridge, and it's good to go. The bigger ones are usually...

Crystal Cove Report 8/30

I went to reef point again today and made it further out to the paddies.
Vis is about 12-15 feet, so pretty decent. Any closer to shore and it gets pretty bad. Swell was still a bit rough and felt...
