Re: The Monobloc Twins

Nice freaking work... Really beautiful shaping plus that finish looks like it was worth the effort!

Re: Low Profile Trigger Mechanism

Yes the Bluetec Lycan trigger is pretty shallow. Around 23mm at the back and 13mm at the front.

Re: Double Roller Build done!

Beautiful gun Dean. Looks like it shoots well - any idea what distance you were shooting? Question, how do you load it? Do you use a hook on a bracelet or something to get the pretensioned bands up...

Re: Riffe euro modular series

I haven't but I have used their old travel shafts (7.1mm) and they have held up well. According to Riffe, they bent one of the new travel shafts (7.5mm) in a "U" shape with no damage to the threaded...

Re: Travel Rollergun Build

In Spearq8 we trust :D

Actually I haven't shot their travel euro. I've only used their travel shafts.

Re: Travel Rollergun Build

I can say their two piece shaft has been better than expected. I bent it slightly at the flopper pin hole from hitting a rock point blank but it was an easy fix. The center joint hasn't had any...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 90 & 100

Wow great work.

Would be cool to see a video if possible. I'm interested in the difference in performance with and without the "booster" band.

Did you make the rollers? Do they have bearings?

Re: Carbon Fin Reviews

Looks like this thread burned out. Has a lot of good info on it.

Does anyone have experience with the Waterway carbons?

Re: Questions about first woody

You're probably ok with a slightly more narrow horizontal lam. Of course, the point of all of this is to have a "rough" blank that can be re-squared after the wood has had time to move after cutting....

I think a 1.5mm track should be fine

Re: 1.5 mm track

To clarify, are you worried that the shooting line connection at the end will interfere with the track if it is too deep?
I think 1.5mm is fine. But it is more important that the shaft/track line up...

Re: Choosing length of a roller gun

I've never heard a good explanation for why the rollers tend to lift the back of the shaft and push the shot down. I remember reading that rollers without the risers don't seem to have this issue but...

Always good to remind ourselves how quickly things can go bad. Glad this one had a happy ending. Thanks for the share.

First... anybody spearing in Peru? Any contacts or experience there? I'm heading there in the next week.

It would be quite a long trip report :thumps:

Re: Travel Rollergun Build

Unfortunately, there are not many options. I think JBL makes or used to make a little travel gun that probably does alright.
Check out the other travel roller I built here...

Re: Travel Rollergun Version 2

I'm still using the original shaft. I rarely fly but when I do I have to check my backpack. It's a two piece shaft so it packs away and no one ever sees the gun.

Re: Travel Rollergun Version 2

I have a bunch of footage I've just been too lazy to put together. But here is a little video I made for instagram the other day. This is on a shore dive on the Pacific Coast of Colombia.

I just wanted to give an update on El Valle after spearing there the last 2 weeks. Specifically, Absalom. As I understand it, Absalom is the only freediver/spearfisherman in the town. Unfortunately,...

In Colombia now. Then Ecuador. Anyone around?

I'm heading to the Pacific Coast of Colombia tomorrow. Available to meet up anywhere in Colombia (and Ecuador, in a month or two). Anyone around or know of any potential dive buddies?
