Re: local spots to hit and info on restricted areas

You sound like a gentleman with a boat. If you ever want to split gas to get to some rigs let me know. I can fill a few spaces with no problem.

Re: local spots to hit and info on restricted areas

It's hard to find good spots these days. San Marcos and New Braunfels are off limits. I have found some great springs near Canyon Lake but they only hold bass and sunfish. The only fish I like to...

Re: New to the forum from San Marcos

Atlas,

There is a city ordinance in San Marcos against spearfishing. Not telling you not do it (those tilapia are delicious after all) just wanted to make sure you were aware, game wardens will...

Re: Freediver's Certification Class

Let me look into that. I'm not sure if we want to wait that long. I'm also not sure we have any other options though. I'll let you know.

Re: Level 1 Freediver, Sept 15-16, Port Aransas

Brandon,

Can we do the class without the fishing trip? I've got a group that would love to take the class we are just a little on the poor side.

Re: Freediver's Certification Class

We are in San Antonio, so we could do either pretty easily. I'm figuring at least 3 including myself. I would just need dates to verify our schedules. It would obviously need to be a weekend as well....

Re: Freediver's Certification Class

I could get at least three guys together for a class. It would need to be under $300.00 a piece and not have the fishing charter attached like the one in Port A. (We are a budget minded group) Let me...

Capt G.

Your boat full yet? Give me a call, I might try to make the 3rd & 4th. If not we can set something up for your next trip.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I tried the search and can't find anything. Where are the federal "spearfishing" regs located. I am aware of the Texas regs "non game fish" but don't...

Re: Texas Spearo's Bible

Just got a digital copy. This book is great! Outstanding work. You could add the armored catfish (placo) to your list of freshwater species as i shoot those pretty regularly in San Antonio area....

Re: spearing lakes near san antonio

I'm totally going to try that slingshaft. They tried to charge me like 13 bucks to use North Park for an afternoon! So instead, I used a public boatramp (till I got bitched at by a cop for swimming...

Re: San Marcos Tournament

I kayaked the Comal yesterday and it looked great. Clear as an aquarium and chocked full of talapia. I assume San Marcos would have similar results. It was very quiet for spring break, which was...

Re: San Marcos Tournament

Anybody have luck contacting any public officials? I'm gonna check out San Marcos outside city limits later in the week, but we have had a lot of rain so I assume water clarity is kaput.

Did they lift the city ordinance against spearing? Or are you guys just taking your chances or what? I wonder if we could petition to spear during winter months since nobody is in the river. Please...

Re: Central Texas Spearing

Pretty much just lake Travis and Canyon Lake. Great fishing in the local springs, but you have to find one that is outside of city limits. (San Marcos, New Braunfels) If you wait till winter and get...
