Re: inspiration next build

Pretty sure Woodguy built a few guns out of plywood a few years ago. Maybe Tinman also.

Re: Does epoxy hold silicon? (for gun butt pad)

Dow Corning produces a full line of structural glazing sealants and would be the only manufacturer that could be recommended with a higher probability of success.

Dow 995, or Dow 795. These...

Re: GUN BUILD: 80cm stretch Euro Gun for a friend

Next time, in lieu of drilling one hole laterally through the muzzle, drill two holes down from the top. The bands will sit on top of the gun in-line with the shaft. You can tie the two lines...

Re: Open track build questions

Like Jon said, it does not have to be made with fancy tools. First two I made, the track was cut with my table saw. I used a trim router to round over the edges. Some of the nicest guns I've seen...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

If the gun manufacturer does not replace and you end up with the repair, know this. The application of silicone sealant around the handle has contaminated the surfaces. You'll have to scrape it off...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

Upon looking at the photos further, it appears the handle portion of the gun is likely a type of nylon, while the top and bottom halves of the gun are FRP. These materials have differing...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

That's not a small problem. I would contact the manufacturer first and see what they say or do prior to taking on any repairs. If it's hollow inside, epoxy will just keep going in. Looks like the gun...

Re: New roller prototype, a lot of shooting of stuff lol

I hear you, that's why I make my own. If you have the tools, you can make them any size to fit the barrel without having the rubber drag on the barrel. Also I like to keep it simple, a material...

Re: ghetto style knife sharpening

I use a similar knife made by Dexter. Looks similar, but the handle is bright yellow and there is a bigger tang to keep your hand from slipping up onto the blade area. It goes for around $12. The...

Re: oil finish on mahogany guns

A cheap, easy, and durable finish is beeswax. I coated a mahogany gun with beeswax in 2010 as an experiment and have been pleased with the outcome. It does require periodic re-application on a...

Re: Slingshot Weapon with pulleys

Pete,

The Barnett fish bazooka is the same concept as the Scope Arrow which is intended to be shot into the water from the shore. A few years ago I had the opportunity to snag one off Craigslist...

Re: Modified rail gun muzzles

I've ordered several items from Diveshop.gr From Greece all the way to Hawaii, no problems. Look around the site and bundle your order to save on shipping costs. They have a lot of good deals...

Re: Modified rail gun muzzles

Check out the Apnea and Meandros muzzles on this site: https://www.diveshop.gr/index.php/180.html

They fit pipe guns and are sort of like the C4 muzzle. However unless you go with a closed...

Re: Roller Polespear worth it?

One I made back in April 2014 based off LePrieur's design. Uses a 3/8" band, the knot can adjust the tension or pre-tension of the band for shooting at close or distant.

Re: Carbon Fiber Gun structures

An ultrasonic thickness gauge should be able to detect the wall thickness if you can calibrate it to the speed of CF, but will only work on relatively flat surfaces.

I've used ground penetrating...

Re: Does a magnet affect spear velocity?

Magnets work pretty good for holding a shaft down, but you still need to think prudently about the muzzle design and how the line will wrap even if it's not holding the shaft down.

There is no...

How about a fine cheese grater or aggressive grit belt sander on a block of rubber or old shoe? You are likely looking for an EPDM or urethane rubber vs. a silicone based. Automotive rubber tubing...

Re: Advice on repairing an epoxy track?

I'd just buy a sharp chisel or Dremel and make it symmetrical. The track is not doing much there, and the shaft will align and engage in the mech as is (once you smooth it out)
