They have quite a few lionfish derbies for just that purpose.The state of FL even contribute prize money.They do help,but it is getting rec and commercial spearos fully onboard that has gotten them...

I use barbed or rusty 3 tine JBL paralyzer on a spare 60 inch shaft. No band, I just jab them.
As they average over a pound for me it's one at a time into the zookeeper. Cocking a gun or pulling...

Dimensions on these seem small.If the OD was more 15 to 20 mm and had a 6mm or 5/16 female end I'd snap up a few just to try.

Yessir,I try to get a tbone shot but going away at 45 degrees works too.Unicorn shots are effective but risky and I have some lovely scars to prove it.

Nice idea.
I recognize the Carolina areas by the bottom and fish.Those seabass are far more prevalent and often inshore.Enough that the allowable catch was increased recently.

I use them for just about everything.I've had people argue they are for small fish under 10 pounds even after seeing videos of me whacking big fish.
The trick to using them is to aim for a stone...

Until the others get a lower frequency transducer the Garmin and Furuno units have far better SS for finding bottom.Even adding all the sales weasel's claims 455 khz only penetrates a little better...

The best dive I've seen was 73 tails off Jax in almost 140'.

My best 5 day trip was 320 pounds of tail,almost a 3 pound average per tail. 5 years ago.We were also spearfishing so not lobstering as...

Hogfish are 17" in GA SC and NC.

Only Wild Card barracuda have a slot limit? Not that I ever see barracuda under 36 inches.
