Lake Powell - Early September

I'll be out on a boat in Lake Powell for a few days at the beginning of September and I'm debating bringing the spearfishing gear. I'll definitely be bringing the freedive gear so I figure I might as...

Baja Trip Tips

In the next few weeks I'm heading down Baja in my campervan for a month or two. 2WD. Scupper Pro on top.
I have done a couple spearing trips down there but haven't really scratched the surface as...

Re: Stretched Band Diameters?

Whoops! I meant to put 300%
But information regarding different elongation would be interesting.

If it's just as simple as solving for 1/3 of the cross-sectional area of the relaxed band, it...

Stretched Band Diameters?

Anyone know the stretched band diameters?
For example, the diameter of a 14mm band at 200%?

I know the right answer is "go try it" but I'm away from the guns at the moment :cowboy:

In NZ - Will Pay For Gas

Hey all - A buddy and I are in NZ for a year working/holiday. We have been shore diving the east coast the last 4 months. Been a blast but we are keen on getting out on a boat for some dives.
We're...

Re: Low Profile Trigger Mechanism

Yes the Bluetec Lycan trigger is pretty shallow. Around 23mm at the back and 13mm at the front.

Re: Double Roller Build done!

Beautiful gun Dean. Looks like it shoots well - any idea what distance you were shooting? Question, how do you load it? Do you use a hook on a bracelet or something to get the pretensioned bands up...

Re: Riffe euro modular series

I haven't but I have used their old travel shafts (7.1mm) and they have held up well. According to Riffe, they bent one of the new travel shafts (7.5mm) in a "U" shape with no damage to the threaded...

Re: Travel Rollergun Build

In Spearq8 we trust :D

Actually I haven't shot their travel euro. I've only used their travel shafts.

Re: Travel Rollergun Build

I can say their two piece shaft has been better than expected. I bent it slightly at the flopper pin hole from hitting a rock point blank but it was an easy fix. The center joint hasn't had any...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 90 & 100

Wow great work.

Would be cool to see a video if possible. I'm interested in the difference in performance with and without the "booster" band.

Did you make the rollers? Do they have bearings?

Looks like this thread burned out. Has a lot of good info on it.

Does anyone have experience with the Waterway carbons?

Re: Questions about first woody

You're probably ok with a slightly more narrow horizontal lam. Of course, the point of all of this is to have a "rough" blank that can be re-squared after the wood has had time to move after cutting....

Re: 1.5 mm track

To clarify, are you worried that the shooting line connection at the end will interfere with the track if it is too deep?
I think 1.5mm is fine. But it is more important that the shaft/track line up...

Re: Choosing length of a roller gun

I've never heard a good explanation for why the rollers tend to lift the back of the shaft and push the shot down. I remember reading that rollers without the risers don't seem to have this issue but...
