Catching sturgeons by hand, new...

Re: sturgeon illegal to spear but, to grab?

We're not allowed to catch them by hand or with a knife (and kill it, of course), neither other species of fish. The law says you have to take it with a "harpoon"...but there's no definition in the...

He's in Newport, of course, doesn't have...

Re: Canon S95 Vs G12

Fantasea makes a ''wide angle'' lens to fit on the canon housing (both s95 and G12). Reviews from users vary.

The kayak has a sail on it. It's an Adventure Island.

Don't be shy to comment on his blog, so he knows he's not alone!

Re: Living on a kayak

He's planning to do it in around 100 days, so about 20 something miles a day. Not that much in numbers, but everything depends of the winds, and how far is the next stop. He knows some...

I warned a couple of these guys, without witnessing anything myself. Try to know the guys' names, and the best weapon; pictures or movies. A picture of them holding a stugeon with a hole in it would...

Re: killing carp winter fishing quebec

Diving with a mate in the st-lawrence, on a SWB point of view, is like diving alone. I might go in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know, but it's gonna probably be during the weekdays.

Re: killing carp winter fishing quebec

Yep, I'm from Montreal. The salmons come exactly from that same spot. Better have a reel on the gun, as they fight like demons, and the flesh can be really soft. Aim the top part of the fish, or...

Re: killing carp winter fishing quebec

That kind of salmon is a regular encounter (chinook and coho), but it's officialy illegal to shoot it. As they're very invasive species, don't feel guilty if you 'mistakenly' shoot one thinking it...

Re: What to do if the line release jams?

If you use a pinned or shark fin (tabs) shaft, bypass the line-release, and use one of the tabs to hold the line. Very simple and reliable line release.
