Re: Roller gun setup

I was about to get rid of my roller too until I rerigged the gun and now it's amazing! Super accurate and no recoil, absolutely sold on roller guns!

I then converted a traditional mako into a...

Re: Aimrite King Venom 100cm setup questions

farting to load...

for my guns, i've done the 14mm small id bands at 350% which is somewhat in the middle of recommendations. You could do 300 and then cut again, but it 350 is pretty common...

Re: Nose heavy roller

Castor - I'll consider that, but may be more difficult as the bands run along the bottom and top.

I was reading some other threads, would a 10cm shorter shaft make a considerable difference? It's...

Re: Nose heavy roller

I'm in the Northeast, so tautog (~4lbs), scup (~1lb), stripers (~10-20lbs) are the main targets. When viz is good, it can get up to 15-20ft. Average I would say is ~10ft.

Re: Nose heavy roller

haha, that's because I didn't want to run a reel or floatline. So I compensated by having a slightly longer bungie to go with a double wrap.

Re: Nose heavy roller

When I last used it in the ocean,I don't recall exactly how buoyant it was (did float without shaft in it), but I wouldn't want to add any more weight to the handle/butt.

In-between the rollers,...

Re: Nose heavy roller

Thanks, there's a tiny little space on the muzzle that I might try to seal up or put some foam in. I'll also see if I can find some neoprene to stick onto it.

It's definitely nose heavy. I...

Nose heavy roller

I just converted a standard aluminum gun into a roller by swapping out the muzzle. Shoots great, but would like to tune it a bit because aiming isn't as easy/fluid because the nose of the gun is...

Re: Small reel recommendations

In New England where I'm diving, the fish don't fight that much and they usually just spin. I'd be putting this on a 70-90 cm gun. The reel would primarily be if I got the shaft stuck in the bottom,...

Small reel recommendations

Most of my diving is around 20-30 ft. I'm not a big fan of reels, but I've become more fond of using them instead of a float line. However, since most of my diving is shallow, I hate having a big...

Re: Wishbone insert

Are you guys all using these for traditional guns? Any opinion on how these would be for a roller? I was thinking of trying them out, but then I wasn't sure how they'd be after the shot when the...

Re: Shaft for short roller

Good to know. What's the harm is using a shaft with a longer overhang (i.e., the 120 vs buying a 110)? Just the aiming is a bit different? Or is it because it basically defeats the purpose of cutting...

Re: Shaft for short roller

I'm going to install two pegs (https://www.mvd-retail.gr/index.php/en/online-store/accessories/mvd-loading-hooks-pair-detail) on the sides by the handle and then when I head out, will pull the bands...

Re: Shaft for short roller

380-400%? really? I thought it was 350-360%, that's what I've been using/tying. I thought it was already more than the 300% for normal ID bands.

Re: Shaft for short roller

Interesting. Any reason as to why to 380-400%? Also, what kind of difference would attaching the mono to the middle versus the end have?

Shaft for short roller

I have an 80cm mako that I'm converting into a roller. I already have a 90 roller so was thinking about cutting the mako down to 70cm. I'm planning on using 14mm small ID bands that would utilize the...

That's pretty awesome! Where do you get the wood from and how'd you learn? Also, do you need any special tools?

Re: Cape may diving

Jumped in and saw some fish, nothing shot as they were literally in my face before I saw them. Nonetheless, cool dive seeing fish and coral.

Cape may diving

I'm headed down to Cape May this weekend from Boston and wondering whether I should bring my dive stuff or not. If I do bring my dive stuff, I'm planning on diving from shore. From what I've read, it...

Re: Moana Euros, soft or medium?

I got my euro softs in 2015 and love them! My buddy tried them out and fell in love with them also, ultimately getting a pair for himself.

Not sure what generation it was in 2015, but anyone know...
