9-19-18 slick calm day

Wednesday, is the day for a offshore trip with winds less than 5 knots:D. Going to give it a shot out of JP. Before, the winds and seas pick up for the weekend.

Worked for Nate. It worked for me in the Dry Tortugas on a 4 day Playmate trip. Sometimes you're waiting "awhile" to get picked up. Had a shark circling me and my dive buddy while "waiting" pick up...

Couldn't wait to get offshore away from the red tide stink. Saw a pontoon boat picking up dead fish with a big landing net and dropping them in garbage cans. Plenty of dead bait fish inshore and out...

If you go out of JP. I strongly recommend heading out to at least 80' due to the red tide. Still about a 5 degree thermal change at 70' on the way down or up. 86F down to 82F. Vis. looks great till...

Saw ORANGE colored water out to about 17 miles with small dead bait fish scattered about. Blue water NW at 23 miles out at around 80'. Water temp. 86F. till near the bottom down to 82F. Not bad. ...

Great video. Very smart firing a second shaft into some of your fish to prevent a possible loss :D. I don't know why more spearos fail to do that :confused:? Inexperience? Laziness? Over confident?

Thanks for the report. That dive could of ended up turning out really bad. Sounds like your "buddy" wasn't monitoring his gas and possibly not use to diving 130'. He's lucky you're easier on the gas...

I have a Shark Shield and it worked on my 4 day Dry Tortugas trip. Lots of sharks there too. I also, carry a 30-06 PPD. Thanks for the reports. Zack, how did your team do on the fish?

Now, that the SPO is over. Assumed some of you went there. Heard there's a major thermal in some areas dropping the temp. from 84F. to 72F..
