Re: ulusub 160 with gun bag

From the looks of it that's one of the guns I made from Reclaimed Teak which we salvaged from Old Building Beams from West Java. The Teak is dry as a bone old growth probably 100yr old.

I'll...

Re: My Invert Roller

320% on 14mm is pretty weak? 14.5mm at 360% is pretty standard for a 7.5mm? How would those numbas compare?

Re: My Invert Roller

Musubi, the idea for the Roller Shaft fin is that it shouldn't have too much overhang. But as long the Shaft Fins are Stainless. (Even Carbon Steel Shafts often have Stainless Fins) you should be...

Re: Questions on Moving to Hawaii

Cool, (literally) pack some warm clothes, gets cool up there, but Dang is it Gorgeous. Especially if you like to grow. You can grow anything in Waimea. We go up there sometimes just for the Farmers...

Re: Questions on Moving to Hawaii

XP100, sounds good, I know there's some guys who dive bluewater regularly over there on Oahu. Wahoo, Mahi, and Yellowfin.. it's all about finding good dive partners in Hawaii. It's Clear, it's deep,...

Re: My Invert Roller

Musubi, maybe try 1-2 thicker bands on bottom. 14mm are pretty thin, even 14.5mm have more Schnapp to them. 15mm more. 16mm more..You should be able to get away without a kicker band with a 7.5mm...

Re: Fire on the Conception

Agree JFJF Smoke Alarms on a vessel like that with Bunks and Crew Quarters should all be linked, and why not have some redundancy.. 30 people sleeping in one area.. Why not have 2-3 smoke alarms?

Re: Fire on the Conception

The question remains. Would a Roaming Nightwatchman have made a difference. The answer is most likely yes. Sometimes it's simple?

Re: Fire on the Conception

Malibu John is right about one thing here. This is all speculation. Some sicko could have spread Gasoline throughout the boat and lit it up.. I don't think that is what happened. But it is a...

Re: Fire on the Conception

Is it Required to have a roaming nightwatchman on a charter boat this size? I hope it will be from here on. But is that a part of current Regulation?

Re: Fire on the Conception

Thanks Errin. One of my dive partners here worked on that boat for years and he had told me the same, and added that the Captain was a known Hardass for Safety.

Propane made sense.. because it...

Re: Why do we open the end of an enclosed track?

All this being said, Theory and Static Testing vs. Real Life experience can at times be at odds and often don't take into consideration the individual. Recoil tolerance, diving style, aiming style,...

Re: Why do we open the end of an enclosed track?

I've repaired Multiple guns where someone has shot a big fish up close and the muzzle has been cracked because the Shaft hasn't cleared the track yet.

Re: Maui Blue water

And if you come to Big Island, we can go out Bluewater Shorediving.. but if you are going to Maui, those guys also get good Bluewater. They need to run a bit further, and it tends to be Windy.. but...

Re: Spearguns for Dogtooth Tuna

Like this, you don't have any lines crossing or clumping. Should be a better system for using Dyneema lines. The last thing you want is too much line.. ie more than you kill range or more than you...

Re: Spearguns for Dogtooth Tuna
