Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

That wouldn't last long being dragged across oil rigs by big AJ.

Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

Too bad they're not sold by the foot. That looks like it could be worth trying out.

Re: A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

I've got my gun set up with a riding rig. Shaft->Cable->Shock cord->1/2" rope. That places the shock cord about 4' up from where I'm holding the rope. Was hoping to figure out a way to keep it in the...

A better / stronger shock cord or alternative?

I went offshore to the rigs to chase AJ a couple weeks ago and shot a fairly nice one. It went one way around a cross member and I went the other to tie it off and finish it. After getting it on the...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

A machine shop.... or a jerry rigged shaft cutter and adjustable die / home made die guide to get it straight. Hopped in the pool today and the group is down to 4" low and 2 inches right @ 15'.

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Trust me, I've thought of doing that! It's bugged me so much though that I don't want to let it beat me! I'll make this thing shoot straight yet!

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Going to need to track down a 50" shaft for that. Will give it a go.

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Stepped down to a 55" shaft from the stock 60" and hit the pool today. The 55 inch shaft has 6" of overhang + 6" for the slip tip. Grouping pretty consistently 6-8" low and 3-4 inches right at a...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

No specific reason. That's just the stock shaft length that the NoKaOi comes with. My guess is that Riffe chose that length shaft to help balance the gun since it has no ballast from the factory, but...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

I think so too, but it's the stock shaft length that the gun came with.

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

You make a great point that I hadn't thought of. My left hand has been just loosely holding the butt and using it to help maneuver the gun. I will try changing my grip on the left hand to being under...

Re: Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Thanks for the feedback! I have lined up a set of wings to put on and see if that gets it fixed. Will report back!

Riffe No Ka Oi Muzzle Flip after adding Neptonics Ballast

Started spearfishing fairly recently and I bought a Riffe No Ka Oi as my first gun. I've been getting frustrated by it consistently shooting low, so decided to try the Neptonics ballast kit that I...

Dive / Spear Crew in the Keys

Towing my Cape Horn from Houston to Islamorada for a week and will be arriving on Tuesday. Anybody in the area that wants to dive or spear sometime during the week? Could use a buddy!

Re: New Spearo in Houston!

Don't quote me, but as long as you're in federal waters you can if I understand correctly.

Everything takes longer than I hope. Still haven't gotten the new boat offshore, but it's getting close....

Re: New Spearo in Houston!

Thanks, it's coming along. I decided to just repair the tank that I had since the bottom was still in great shape, so I cut the old top off and welded a new one on. Pressure tested fine, so it'll be...

Re: New Spearo in Houston!

Awesome, I will for sure hit you up when I get closer to being water ready with the new rig. I got a bit of a setback with the new hull this week. I found a soft spot on the spash well, and after...

Re: Words from Tournament Host "Rigs & Reef Classic"

I'm far too new to the sport to be participating in a tournament yet, but I might just have my off shore boat done by then and would definitely be interested in making a trip down to see what it's...

I've been keeping a sharp eye on the forecast for a possible Saturday trip, but I'm not holding my breath.

New Spearo in Houston!

Hey all, just got approved for the board and wanted to introduce myself. I'm fairly new to the sport, but super pumped to do more of it. I've done a guided spear trip out of Cabo a couple of times...
