Re: band retraction speed... 14 vs 16 vs 20

It all has do with the cross-sectional area being stretched. Those slingshot bands are flat rubber, so they are thin in one dimension and wide in another, basically rectangular. Their cross-section...

Re: band retraction speed... 14 vs 16 vs 20

I watched the video. The statement that "bands lose energy as they cool off" is incorrect. The energy was already lost as it transformed to heat when the band was first stretched as rubber is not a...

Re: band retraction speed... 14 vs 16 vs 20

Re: What do you eat before spearfishing to keep energy level up?

People are not like peas in a pod and some have a different metabolism to others, hence there is no one size fits all answer here. As energy is expended in diving and heat is continually being lost...

Re: The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

The international patent has been around for some time, the actual US patent has been a long time coming. The priority date is the key.

Re: Metal wishbone FAILURE

May be worth keeping a record of how many times a metal wishbone is reused and scrapping them after a certain number of changes. Checking for micro-cracks as mentioned earlier may be worth doing,...

Metal cable wishbones can develop meat hooks, so need to be checked periodically.

Re: Bluefin Tuna worth a million plus!

It is probably full of mercury infused organic compounds, so you would not be eating much of it at a time if you valued your long term health. Big Tuna vacuum up a lot of smaller fish to keep them...

Re: Metal wishbone FAILURE

After so many band changes just throw them away. Depending on how much you use your gun is a factor as bands conk out even if not used, so a little used gun with the bands always left on the gun may...

Metal fatigue is the cause, as the wishbone loads up on the tab it gets sprung by the load going on and tweaks the metal as it takes up the strain. It happens on all metal wishbones if they are used...
