Re: Mahogany 150 Tuna Gun

ps. I do think as stated above that you could make your life easier by creating a little more space for your Line release. Rather than putting that finished gun back on a table and chancing getting...

Re: Mahogany 150 Tuna Gun

Nice job on the ballasting. I like the way you maximized the Band Stretch. Also like the Muzzle design which Functions to arrest the bands. It doesn't look like too much recoil in that shot.

What...

Re: Mahogany 150 Tuna Gun

You can go to Spearitco.com and use their Band Length Calculator. 16mm Regular ID Bands, I'd go @ 320-330% from what I can remember. That being said, 16mm Regular ID bands are not the best batch for...

Re: Muzzle repair advice - wood gun

I can't reallllllly see with those pics, another few pics showing from the top and bottom and more of the stock would show more.

From what I see, I'd go at this with G-Flex Epoxy. Douching the...

Re: Mahogany 150 Tuna Gun

Nice build. I noticed those Bands were not tied yet. What are those bands?

5/8" Small ID (16mm)
5/8" Regular ID

I'd be careful with your power settings. I know everyone is all about 380%...

Re: Soft Shackles for floatline rigs. Anybody use them?

I hadn't heard of this happening before on a 40lb fish.. I think it may have been left open. The story was something about reel line tangling on the swivel..

anyways.

Looks like a great idea....

Re: Anyone know Who are these Spearos smashed by a Whale Shark?

Funny video. Those handfed Tunas don't seem to show much fear of divers. I had a similar incident (minus the Tuna) a few months ago where I collided with a Whale Shark while surfacing from a deep...

Re: Soft Shackles for floatline rigs. Anybody use them?

We use Soft Shackles.. but just a length of 3000lb Dyneema tied double ended in an Overhand knot, but that's a cool idea there. I love to see adaptations from other tried and true spots brought into...

Re: Ermesub Double Roller in mid handle?

Actually thinking about it again, a Fiberglass Push Rodd would be better as it would not have the Galvanic Corrosion..or you could end dip the Carbon Fiber in Epoxy. Not that it matters as it's your...

Re: AR handle counter-sink with what bit advise

I think what you are asking is what Radius Bit to use to match the Handle Frame. Since you said Bolting it on I'm assuming you are using a Flat Base Handle frame. So what you are asking is what is...

Re: Ballasting a Negatively Bouyant Gun?

Interesting.

Specific Gravity (Basic, 12% MC): .76, .86
Janka Hardness: 2,620 lbf (11,640 N)

When we talk about Wood Density for Spearguns, we are really talking about Specific Gravity as it...

Re: RI Tuna/wahoo

Your best bet would be to post on New England Spearos Facebook page. If you're out there. Keep your eyes peeled. Even a Single Bucket Floating around can have a Pyramid of life underneath it.

Re: Big reels for Dogtooth

One problem with Doggies and Reels is that they can make a mess of lines on the bottom. And there is often current. Another is that there can often be sharks. Doggies Sound and are extremely strong....

Re: Hypothetical - you come up, boat gone, all alone

Happened to a friend of mine. He made the decision to ditch all his gear including his speargun. Kept his Knife, Mask, Fins, and started Freestyle swimming through the night. He figured it was 12...

Re: Planning New Bluewater Roller Build - 1 or 2 bands?

More thoughts.

Here's how I'd go. First, I'm assuming that when you are listing the Blank size as 110-115 that you are talking about band stretch length and not total length. If that's the Total...

The Mass you are looking for is Mass. Then this mass is counterbalanced with Weight the entire Mass has a Specific Gravity close to that of Salt Water. Shape can also effect Recoil in a few ways....
