Mori Bluewater Speargun

Bought this cannon about 4 years ago, pulled the trigger 3 times for 3 kills on bluefin. It’s a work of art from Mori, one of the few built with ballast wings.
It will take down anything that...

Re: Staying in shape: weight belt workout?

Great idea! I have a harness type weight belt, it’s been great for lunges, squats, etc. using my canopy ballast sandbags as dumbbells

Re: Question on Launch Ramps

True, they also have officers staged at every launch ramp here. It’s doubtful anyone would make it past the 20 surveillance cameras on the bay anyway.
Fortunately the weather has been up this...

Re: Question on Launch Ramps

Everything closed in San Diego, beaches, parks, bays, parking lots and the pacific ocean. I’m sure a 4-5am departure would go unnoticed.

Re: Find the Grocery Store and you will Find...

I’m glad you posted this, because “grocery stores” are one of the few places we can go. The pacific ocean is still open👍

Re: Some Thoughts on Financial Survival

Nothing from China is of quality, and doesn’t last very long. This will be over in a few weeks.

Re: shark shield

Was the camera on?
Fact is there is no proof it will even slightly deter a hungry predator. Dozens of videos out with divers freeswimming with large sharks, not being attacked. 1000’s of divers...

Re: shark shield

Dive with a gopro instead. Dozens of encounters, zero injuries/fatalities, and none were using a shark shield. Point is, it will not deter a hungry predator.

Re: Bluefin Tuna Update: 2/16/20

Great tips Bob!
I have noticed late afternoon the bluefin schools tend to head in a westerly direction into the sun. Maybe they silhouette the bait schools in the low angle of the sun.

Re: When your Boat is Broken...

I had a boat like that. Had a new tank built, had the outboards gone thru TWICE,
$3500 later, issue not repaired. They would run fine, then start dying until
I ran back and squeezed the fuel...

Re: Shark attack at santa rosa

Those population numbers can easily double in one year. With annual births rates of 2-15 per female shark, and California has completely phased out gillnetting, there is great potential for more.

Re: fire suppression

It’s a cool gimmick, but not as versatile as a typical fire extinguisher. They’ve been around for years.

Re: Fire on the Conception

Exactly. Otherwise this scenario will repeat itself, with a different cause. Ultimately, whatever the outcome of the investigation, 100% blame goes on the captain and crew for failing to have a...

Re: Fire on the Conception

An on duty watch would have completely changed the outcome, if not required, it should be. This scenario is one of the several reasons why it’s needed for the safety of passengers, and it’s...

At the top of the link it states “uninspected vessels”
Im assuming this charter boat was required to follow USCG inspection rules.

Re: Fire on the Conception

I think propane is not allowed on USCG inspected vessels, with exception to outside bbq. Still, a 5 gal tank or two is enough. I hope at least one crewmember was awake and on watch.

Re: Free Trip On The Thunderbird?

Current is great for yellowtail. I’ve done all of the above, including live boating kelp paddys and breezers solo. Somehow I survived, but after a few close calls those days are behind me. I...
