Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

Good point. We have plenty of Dentons, too in China now so a comparison should happen:-). Just that my friend with the cool band guns is a 3h flight away in south China and though we just spent 10...

Re: Rollergun Recoil and the Jerk (not the owner!)

My dear Majd;)
I know you are deep into the rubber guns, but things have changed in Airland and my shafts may have less drag than you guys' GR(?), Hunt or whatever nice shafts you like to use. I...

How To Avoid Blisters?

I agree with Marco. I have fairly wide feet but my first set of fins were Cressis and they are slim (which I didn't know when I ordered them). While they were snug, they were too snug and often...

Re: How To Avoid Blisters?

A bit of an update now that I have had 8-9 days of diving.
I am using Pathos footpockets as I like how light they are yet feel stiff enough to not loose too much energy. But like Jon, on previous...

Re: Coldish weather epoxy

Yeah, stick to West or whatever system you would use in the summer and then heat either the garage - or just make a small heated enclosure to fit the parts you are gluing. Or cure the parts in the...

Re: How To Avoid Blisters?

That might work, too. I've never used it for diving but did do a season skiing in some very tight form fitted boots with only nylon socks. Though form fitted there were still some spots that rubbed...

Re: How To Avoid Blisters?

Ok. So, I guess you are talking about that flexible sports tape (kinesiology stuff) that I've been reading about, too:-)

Good thing, as I picked up two rolls of it and I have a bunch of the white...

Re: Help Needed, DIY Jap Style Polespear

I decided to "grit coat" the grip again after having sifted out most of the fine powder and the result was a whole lot better this time:

Re: How To Avoid Blisters?

Yeah, on my last trip, I did use some of that white, paper like tape and I think it bought me quite a few blister-free days but didn't offer full protection - I think mostly because it doesn't stay...

How To Avoid Blisters?

So, I could do with a bit of specific advice on how to avoid blisters from finning but first a little background.

I have a good combo of socks and foot pockets that I don't want to change but this...

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius v2 80 & 120 roller

I am fairly sure the little blue dyneema loops you see just rear of the rollers do the job of stopping the wishbone.
I don't know who came up with this solution but Roisub use it, too.

And yes,...

Re: Help Needed, DIY Jap Style Polespear

It's been a while since I updated this thread but I did one mod/improvement to the spear for an upcoming Indo trip. Using a hand strap with a hook tends to make short work of the tape grips so I...

Re: Managing Shooting Line - On Spare Shafts Or For Traveling

Zip ties aren't bad at all. Better than Velcro which moves around on me and tape which often leaves a sticky residue. So far, to me, this wrap shows more promise. But the more options the merrier:-)...

Re: Managing Shooting Line - On Spare Shafts Or For Traveling

Yeah, I used to shoot documentary photography projects in all sorts of funky places and found Eagle Creeks zipper pouches to be amazing for dropping cables into, toiletry in another and tools in a...

Re: Managing Shooting Line - On Spare Shafts Or For Traveling

Thanks for those links, those bags look to do the job well, too.

Just posting the pics from those two links in case Castro's links die later on:

Managing Shooting Line - On Spare Shafts Or For Traveling

A while back - in a thread I can't find now - we talked about tricks to manage shooting line on rigged, spare shafts (or for traveling). I've tried velcro and tape and they are both not great...

Re: Latest roller builds finished

Argh, just wrote and then lost a post.
Anyways, my memory is bust but I feel like one of the SA guys, possibly Chris Coates, did a big roller test some years ago and I think he had a point on...

Re: Paralenz Underwater Compact Camera

I haven't tried it yet but its claim to fame is the depth compensated white balance. This may sound like sales speak but it's potentially a game changer for people who care about color grading their...

Re: Cvetkovski Euro Custom Banded Gun With Reel

That reel looks like the Aussie reel which supposedly is tough as nails - at least people here say that.
I guess they wanted this style of gun. Perhaps a curvy, "optimized" gun is considered...

Re: Harassed by a shark: a dilemma

I'll try to remember that one, Jon.
I dived a spot in Indo last year and after some deeper dives I moved inshore just on the inside of some small pinnacles which the waves broke against. The place...

Re: Japanese spearguns (local manufacture)

Yeah, and even polespears are supposedly illegal in certain places now. But it can vary from one tiny little "precinct" to the next.
I actually built a Japanese inspired polespear for a trip to...

Re: Japanese spearguns (local manufacture)

It's true that very few spearos use guns in Japan but not true that it is not allowed. I've actually dived with a a local, who used a gun;-). But as Pete says, it has a lot to do with where you are...

Re: Sigalsub CF 110 speargun test

Congrats on the decision - let us hear how it all goes:)

As for the argument of who speaks well of which guns, it seems there is almost a direct correlation between how much a spearo spends on his...

Re: Has anyone worked on developing speargun sights?

I don't think the wavelength of Bluetooth can "punch" through water at all - pity really as Bluetooth, the protocol, was named after a Danish viking king, haha;-). As far as I know, none of the...
