Re: Odd WSB tips that may or may not be helpful

Dive often and you will score. If you only plan on diving 5 times in the course of a year don't plan on getting fish. Plan to dive at least 2-3 times a week if you want to see and shoot fish. Go when...

Re: How big is a big WSB

A big fish in my opinion is totally relative to the diver who takes it. To many a 20lb fish is a monster. Personally I think a 10 pounder in shallow water along the beach is way harder to shoot than...

Re: WSB at the Nados?

I've dove the five minute kelp a couple of dozen times and shot whites there a couple of times. I've never seen anything but singles and they seem to be really skitish there. Not really sure why they...

Re: Small boat ?s

A welded aluminum boat like a gregor is hard to beat on a budget in my opinion. i dove out of one for years until it was too hard on my back. I took out the foam under the seats and used the inside...

Re: Shore diving distance

My advice is consider not trying to come in against an out going tide as that can be interesting in a rather negative way. Also remember one good size fish will slow you down considerably. In the...

Re: Be selective everyone. Choose your shots wisely.

I for one am very selective only surface shots for me. But seriously I agree wait till the shot presents itself and it will. However with that being said fish will tear off, and that is the reality...

Re: Mendocino Nat'l Forest Advice Needed

The russian gulch campground is beautiful and has a decent 6 mile hike. really nice in summer with lots of wild black berries to pick, and easy ab diving in the cove right at the campground. Have fun.

Re: What do you want to tell fishermen?

Thank you for the chance to share and for once again advocating for our interest. The things I can think of to pass along are as follows.

Fisherman and Spearfishermen share the ocean and an...

Re: La jolla??? What you guys think???

La Jolla does have kelp, but it is sick. It is very thin with lots of growth on it and breaking off like crazy. Only on the days when the current is out of the south is it sticking up at all for any...

South coast MPA's???

I just wondered if anyone has gotten a strait answer as to what date the south coast MPA's might be put into effect. I have heard three different storys. The first being March of this year, the 2nd...

Re: How young is too young?

I think 12 is a reasonable age. I would say start with a polespear in the shallows. Fish like corbina, croaker,Cabezon, calicos, and halibut are all great starter fish for kids. And if you can...

Re: 3/8 shaft for WSB?

3/8 shafts are awesome for WSB and Yellowtail given you use a slip tip. I don't find the recoil to be a problem as long as the gun is heavy enough. What I have noticed is that using four bands it is...

Re: What hauls your gear?

I use a recycled plastic potato sack I got when I purchased fire wood at a state campground. They work awesome as they allow the gear to dry, hold a ton of stuff, are strong and I even use them to...

Re: Best Place to Take a Child H&L Fishing

The problem I see is people assume the world is a safe place it is not. New York, New Orleans, Detroit all more murders than Baja.

Re: Best Place to Take a Child H&L Fishing

I'd say by far the best place is LA Bay in Baja. You can literally catch a sandbass, trigger fish, croaker, mackeral, and sometimes even a yellowtail everysingle cast all day long less than 50 yards...

Re: Best Riffe for shore diving WSB

For shore diving number three with a slip tip, this gun also isn't to big to shoot a halibut, calico etc but packs a mean punch. If you do long shore dives out to the kelp and plan on trying to shoot...
