Re: Best Railgun/Pipe gun handle

I'll third this. My 120cm D1 uses 2 14mm small ID as well, no issues at all.

Re: Salmon Sushi with Belly Skin Chicharrones and Micro Greens

Learning that salmon skin chicharrones exist might be the best thing I've learned this week. Must try them. All your cooking and recipes look awesome!

We have yellowjacks here in S.FL which are...

Re: Lobster Diving This Fall

That vis is awesome. Curious why you go with a net and tickle stick, seems a snare would streamline your gear and make things easier for you? Either one of the green spring loaded ones or just a...

Re: What is up with this spearfishing closure at Biscayne National Park?

From the summary of the commission's October meeting it looks like they did away with the proposal to ban spearguns. Absent also is the 100 baitfish limit and the changes to stone crab bag limits.

Re: Slingshot Weapon with pulleys

Almost wonder what something like that could do with actual speargun rubbers, say small ID 18mm or so, stacked on top of one another.

I was watching a Youtube series on medieval crossbow stats...

Re: What is up with this spearfishing closure at Biscayne National Park?

Does anyone have an update on this? It seemed from the meeting I attended there was strong opposition to the spearfishing regulation that was proposed but I'm curious about a couple of the other ones...

Re: Making wishbone bands

These make tying bands a lot easier IMO.

https://www.makospearguns.com/Q8-Stainless-Steel-Wishbone-Inserts-p/mq8sswi.htm

Just insert the stainless steel wishbone inserts into the bands and tie...

Re: What is up with this spearfishing closure at Biscayne National Park?

Good to see a lot of other spearos at the meeting last night, hopefully even more show up tonight.

The panel, and Biscayne National Park staff especially, seemed at a loss when it came to...

Re: New Site Added to LookUnderwater.com

Love the site. If I could make a suggestion, get rid of the "welcome there are three ways..." pop-up. The map with icons to click on is pretty intuitive already and if you want you can add a "how it...

Re: South Beach shore diving

The North jetty of Government Cut is a fun dive. There will be TONS of snook there all along it this time of year. If you're swimming out from the beach make sure you have a dive flag, and stay very...

Re: Diving/spear fishing around the Tortugas

The towers are worth a stop, the W tower north of the Tortugas usually holds a nice mix of life from cobia and permit to the occasional cubera. Check out noaa's bathymetry for dive spots, there's...

Re: Shipping Speargun / Shaft Estimate

Depends on the gun, obviously a pipe gun style is going to be cheaper than a larger wood gun. Best bet is to remove the handle if possible and put it into a pvc tube and ship like that. For shipping...

Re: Advice on where to buy carbon barrels

If you guys want to post the quantity and length you're interested in I'll shoot her an email and get a price quote on the barrels and on shipping to S.Fl.

I've ordered through Alibaba you have to contact them through Alibaba then they'll send you their PayPal address to place the order. Nautilus is almost the same price if you're just buying a single...

Re: One band on Pathos laser pro 120?

It came out less because I figured I'd have to replace the shaft that an off the shelf gun came with anyways.

Here's a link to the CF barrels, they'll sell a single one but you have to pay for...

Re: One band on Pathos laser pro 120?

The gun I built is essentially a Pathos 120cm (bought the CF barrel on Alibaba and saved about $200 from retail putting it together myself). I've set it up with two 14mm small ID and a single 16mm...

Re: Riffe Mid-Handle Bottom - 20mm band length?

The advantage of the loop setup (or inserts) though is that if the wishbone fails for some reason you can retie the knot to the loop or just grab another short piece of line from your reel and retie...

Re: Band stretch. Where is the upper limit?

I have an almost identical setup (125cm band stretch) single band 16mm small ID at around 400% and can echo almost everything you said. With a single wrap it's so quick to reload, coupled with...

Re: Small ID pole spear band?

What did you use for a loop to put your hand in to hold the band. Mind sharing some pictures, I have a Neritic Big Blue as well and thinking about doing an identical setup.

Re: Who went out for Hogfish, any thoughts???

Hogfish are somewhat unique in this regard. Many other fish are the other way around with females being the larger of the species which is why we see slot limits for fish like snook allowing larger...

Re: Who went out for Hogfish, any thoughts???

You could pretty reliably get a limit of hogs on patch reefs off Miami in an hour last year, trouble is they would have been 12-14" fish.

Hopefully we see more and larger fish in the coming years,...

Re: Towing a Freediver - Techniques?

You might want something more neutrally buoyant than a RA float if you're trying the saddle idea. I've seen how a RA float acts when towed behind a boat and you'd be in for quite the ride.

Almost...

Re: Towing a Freediver - Techniques?

A wakeboard rope with a triangle shaped bridle is pretty easy to use. You can put the bar that you'd hold in the crook of your arm or under your armpit to relieve some strain on your hands. Although...
