Re: Any Indoor Pools in area for Practice?

Do negatives to simulate depth. Let all your air out at the surface (or most of it - as much as you can stand) and then sink to the bottom of the deep end. You will find it very difficult to equalize...

Re: Any spearos in the Washington, DC area?

Freediving is not really popular in DC area - no good water to dive in.
And lots of pools frown on breath hold activities.
But the pool in Annapolis - Arundel Olympic Swim Center on Riva Road...

Re: How long can you hold your breath?

Generally speaking your breath hold ability depends mostly on your ability to calm down and relax. Elite freedivers seem to be pretty lean, but other than that your build won't have a dramatic effect...

Re: The Nationís First Ocean Plans

Trump will kill these plans. He will remove all restrictions. You will be able dive whenever, wherever you want. You will be able to drill for oil, or dump oil, wherever you want. Go big business!

Re: Training Advice

It is NOT the life guards job to safety spot individual swimmers. He/she is supposed to be scanning the pool. Most of the guards at my pool are bored youngsters and they spend most of their time...

Re: Newb in Maryland

Freediving and spearfishing are not so good in our Maryland "blackwater". But if you are interested in freedive practice we just started a new "meetup" in Annapolis. Checkout meetup.com and join the...

Re: How long can you hold your breath?

The range selections here should be changed. I can hold my breath for 5 minutes, do I check the 3-5 or 5-7 box?
Better to have it as:
0-2
2:01 - 3
3:01 - 5
5:01 - 7
7:01 up

Re: Fin Upgrade

I see a marketing opportunity here. Someone should should buy several dozen pairs of fins, various makes, sizes, stiffness, materials, etc. Then rent them out to divers who want to try them out...

Re: Kayak worth it?

Hi Ean, my 2 cents, I think a good compromise is a 22 foot boat with a head
(ladies like to have a head), but still with a 2-cylce outboard for reliability.

Hope you had a good time at Dutch Springs for your freedive course.
The Annapolis pool has reopened after fall maintenance.
Are you ready to resume dive practice?

Re: Assateague island

Here ya go. If the link doesn't work pm me and I will send the pdf by email.

Myself - I wouldn't take a jetski several miles offshore. But if you do be sure to take a powerful marine radio.

Re: Assateague island

There are several artificial reefs off the coast of OC and Assateague. I've never been but would be willing to pitch in on a diving charter to take use there (several miles out). Depths range 30 or...
