Re: kayak HMB in a north swell?

The inside jetty will be pretty protected from swells, so you should be fine. There is better crabbing outside the harbor but that has a lot of surge near the jetty wall and there can be a nasty...

Re: Kaboat

Re: Small Boat Question

I think the materials cost me around $600, with stainless bolts and I...

Re: Small Boat Question

Thanks, I have some bigger projects in mind down the road so I'll try and update you guys. I'd stay away from pourable polyurethane foam unless you want to encapsulate it in a fiberglass shell...

Re: Small Boat Question

I messed around with a few different kinds of foam and ended up using Eva Foam. It's expensive but it glues and cuts easy and lasts a long time. One thing to keep in mind, is that for every cubic ft...

Re: Half Moon Bay/ Santa Cruz

98% of the time the visibility here is horrible. I have to say though, the Stripers were heavily in the area last summer / fall. People are still catching them on H&L in Pescadero righ now. Other...

Re: Wetsuit recommendations

Marco, I used all of the suits I mentioned and put them through a decent amount of dives before selling or exchanging them, except the Mako, so i dont really know how durable that is in the long run....

Re: Wetsuit recommendations

Here is a opinionated summary of the suits I've owned. i think it's crucial that the suit fits well and is not restricting air and bloodflow, especially in the head / neck.

Re: Albino Red Abalone

That's pretty damn interesting. Nice find.. I'm not sure, but that sort of looks like the endangered White Abalone.

For me, theres no better way to start the new year than a spearfishing trip with epic conditions in Carmel. Water was clear, low wind and swell, with more fish than we couldve hoped for. I put in a...

Re: Monterey/Carmel conditions

Yeah, 12 foot swells sure are hectic for an entry / exit at any place, although doable in some spots. You must have been itching to get out that day. Good thing you made it out in one piece.
