Re: Underwater Hockey in Groton CT

The team hasn't been playing at UConn since...Feb. or something. I know that Pete has written a letter to UConn to reopen the pool for hockey asap. Hopefully Peter will let us know.

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

Viz was good at Weekapaug. It's indeed an easy spot for beginners. No current, no big wave. I went after low tide around 10am and I got 20ft easily. Later at high tide viz was no better, slightly...

Re: CT Guns ....Registration! Magazines too!

Hi all, I'm Ric,
I used to dive (mostly solo) jetty dive in inlets: Barnegat Inlet, NJ. Manasquan, NJ.
I am not a terribly good hunter but I like the diving as much as the hunting.
I may have...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Weird, I saw hundreds of super fat Taugs in Barnegat inlet last WE.
Perhaps unusual current temperatures the day you dove ? surface water 0-15ft at high tide was not cold and 'felt' in the normal...

Here you go. At 8PM the 17th is zero viz, the next high tide 8AM was great. Go figure.
No luck I missed four times. Twice on blue fish and twice on stripers.
The viz...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Water was calm yesterday, it sure helps. I don't say it was the Caribbean vis, I just say it was probably 10 ft but not as clear as April 2018 though.

I checked a few holes and didn't see...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Barnegat Inlet: good viz at high tide yesterday ~10ft maybe more. But no fish, except very small fish that ressemble small Bergals. Crabs and baby clams are on the rocks, so food is coming.
I...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

I was in low tide Barnegat inlet yeeterday, and although the top layer was milk soup, it improved below ~15 ft. Very clear but much colder too. So it's getting better, but I didn't see anything...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

How are you jersy? Ready to go ? True what you said.

My local swimming pool is 9 ft deep and at that depth I don't feel any pressure in my sinuses nor the need to equalize. But that's soft water,...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

The silver 3 was my first gopro and I lost it in the inlet. I consider it superior to the session4.
The medium field in particular is much better and flatter in the silver3 than the session. And it...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Great job! your video is very pleasant to watch and it's fun to look at dudes having fun. I notice at the end that your white balance at the surface is almost perfect, your camera does a great job. ...

Very similar to last year 2018, maybe a bit worse. Very difficult to white balance with the red filter but necessary IMO otherwise there wouldn't be any color but...

cold, but I don't have a watch with thermometer so I can't tell you exactly.
I don't feel the cold in my 5mm open suit mako. It feels plenty warm in the body, but the problem is the extremities,...

4-5 ft today at Barnegat Inlet just before high tide. Not the Caribbean, but not too bad right ? Good enough for Taugs, if there was any...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

@David, It must be the non stop rain and all that run off water full of organics.
I am no marine biologist but I think that the water is too cold and opaque for phytoplankton to metabolize the...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

@bass...

true that, I went to Barnegat inlet last sunday morning early and the visibility looked very doable from the surface.
I didn't dive, it was too rough with that terrible cold wind, but...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Something that frustrated me, is that even if I could see the tip of my spear 4-5ft in front of me, I could not see much further, and many times the tip hit a rock that I couldn't see, with a...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

There are some Tautogs at shallower depths, they may be smaller, but the one I saw was probably ~around~ 15inches plus or minus 1 inch, and I am sure I was not in 20 ft of water, more like 15ft....

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Yes we spoke. Hmm, less than one ft you said... Well, in the inlet it was ~ 4ft since I could see the tip of my spear.
I didn't go deep, barely 10-15ft, but there it was the same ~4-5ft visibility....

Re: Daily Vis report thread

The vis holds ! compared to last year at least, I was in Barnegat inlet last Sunday, around 12-1PM and I got around 4-5 ft vis.
OK it's not the Caribbean, but I am sure it is better than last year...

Re: GoPro hero session

I have to correct myself here : upgrading to Windows10 may be the ONLY solution, not the simplest.
I did it and it fixed everything. GoproStudio finally works, that's the most important.
And Quick...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

A loaded gun on the jetty is a rare occurrence but since I've seen it too, I can't say it's not real.
Trying to explain why it is a bad thing is awkward. Like, why would you need to explain that...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Poseidon gave me >6ft today in Barnegat Inlet. Well, more than 10 ft if you include 'blurry' visibility, then it would be more like 10-15ft perhaps. Not bad at all for August and much better than...
