Re: Bar Harbor Maine area, worth bringing spearing gear?

given it's status and how slow the wheels of the government move when it comes to environmental issues, you better get up there fast - it might not be around for too long.

Re: Want to make Spears

powder coating will most probably be coarse enough to do some damage to the railing.
the way I look at it, if it costs about a 1-2 setts of bands, you might as well make them semi-disposable; use a...

Re: JBL Explorer 24 good choice?

Go on the web and find exactly what band it takes, make a fresh band about 1in shorter, file the notch on the shaft smooth so you can use a dynema wishbone instead of the stock metal one (I broke...

Re: JBL Explorer 24 good choice?

Re: right gun for striper?

I've taken plenty of fish with a JBL Carbine (double loop, extra band) and I agree it's not the gun that is the culprit. If the gun can punch a hole in the fish then it has enough power. Rig it...

Re: Chahlston

If you scuba then you got to be good at it, bouncing of the bottom and having to look / feel around for your gear / check on air, depth, etc will cut into the number of fish you see pretty fast. If...

the way the light passes though substances is partially influenced by their density. Since water of different temperature or salinity has different densities a mix would create the effect described.
