Re: St Maarten any info?

There are interior ponds that supposedly hold some decent tarpon Ive heard and i believe its legal to fish for them. I dove the beach by the airport years ago...small tropicals was all i saw. There...

Re: Daily Vis Report Thread

In the bay or on the outside? I'm guessing by southern you mean out off Ocean Drive. We are thinking of heading up...just trying to decide whether to bring the boat or not. If off Ocean Drive might...

Re: Boat ramp to head to Block

Ha! Yes the breachways can be lots and lots of fun entering/exiting with an outgoing tide against the swells! I'd agree with Sergio D and avoid the breachways and either make the haul to Pt. Jude, or...

Re: Winter Flounder???

Good news....I saw a guy at the Baldwin Bridge boat launch on the CT river last night when I was pulling my boat out filleting a bass, FAT 32-34 incher...so they are here (CT anyway). Not sure if he...

Re: Christmas in St Martins

You may want to look into what it takes to get on a boat. I didn't have all my gear, actually wasn't even a spearo at the time but years ago I did a weeks worth of snorkeling off the airport beach...

Re: Goals for next season

You can do the trip in the 1700. I have done it many times from Barn Island and Pt. Jude in a 16' Wahoo. When I do it from Barn Island I usually poke along the beaches fluking until I feel the...

Re: CT or bust!

The hold overs are usually in the Thames River, but probably CT river too. I would try the Thames.

Re: Not the Warren Parrot...

There are a bunch of them down here in CT, particularly in shoreline towns to the west. I know where there is a nest in West Haven, it's been there for a few years. I've personally never seen any...

Re: scallops

Wow, nice haul! I'm surprised shellfishing for you guys is open. Over here on my side of the sound our beds are all closed. We don't have scallop beds that I know of, but the clam/oyster/steamer beds...

Re: Upcomming weekend

I'm going to try and go in Eastern CT/RI areas. Definitely bringing the rod and reel on board just in case. The webcams at Block right now are already showing some NASTY seas!!!! Should stir things...

Re: Cold weather diving

I have a small open boat too. We just pic our days and keep diving till the water temps go below 50. That's when things disappear and head for deeper waters. Was togging rod and reel yesterday in...

Re: How long is the new england season?

Once water drops below 50 there is noticeable lack of fish in my depth range. Last year I believe it was still productive through November and our last dive was 12/1. This was in CT/RI/NY waters.

Re: Sea Turtle on Brenton Reef

Very cool. I saw one of those in the Race years ago, looking off the bow of my parents sailboat. Saw a MONSTER leatherback off Watch Hill, that was super impressive. Both times I was not in the water...

Re: Equalizing issues - Eustachian tube

Hope your ear issue improves. You may or may not know, but there are plenty of places you can get bass/tog/fluke/scup/blues without going deeper than 10 feet or so....especially since you have access...

Re: Sushi, Sashimi & Maki Tips & Tricks for New England Fish

Guys...do Stop and Plop or Big Y have what's required to make this stuff? I searched their sites for nori, came up blank. I need to make something. I've got some scup and blue crab ready to go.

I...
