Re: lookunderwater.com video thread

Wow, it was really cool to go back and see/visit some of my favorite spots on this site. It’s been over 20 years since I dove the Mushroom Rock and the Holsten wreck. That Mushroom rock held AJ’s...

Re: Have you speared another spearo?

It goes without saying that the bands would always be unloaded before handing the gun up. Ocean Rhino’s have a well designed, very reliable safety and I try to educate those I come in contact with on...

If

I went back and read my post and I failed to include that after deploying your anchor from the stern to then swing it off the bow after the anchor sets. I have edited my comments in my...

Re: Project Boat Discussion: Tips, Ideas, Mistakes...

A word of caution on stern deployment/anchoring: If your boat has a low freeboard or a low cut transom, be careful when stern anchoring especially when it is rough. If your anchor is hung on the...

Re: Project Boat Discussion: Tips, Ideas, Mistakes...

Bow rails are handy especially when it’s rough and do offer additional safety while crew is on the bow but they are not essential. Given a choice I would opt to have bow rails. There is an...

Re: Has anyone worked on developing speargun sights?

Sounds like you have the switch issue addressed but how do we attach the wires to the light? You have any suggestions for that?

Re: Has anyone worked on developing speargun sights?

During the original design process of the Ocean Rhino Speargun, I explored many options/ways we might be able to incorporate a rear mounted switch for the muzzle light on the speargun. However, the...

Re: Trigger safeties: To have or not to have

Hey Pete, thanks for the positive comments on the Ocean Rhino safety design. When we were designing the new Ocean Rhino Speargun back in 2008/2009 I was determined to finally design a speargun with a...

Re: Scuba incident/accident/Rescue via USCG Florida Middle Grounds 08/16/2018

Hopefully the captain will chime in and let us know if 02 was available and administered.

I think this thread is providing valuable lessons for all of us and hopefully the open discussion of...

Re: SEA HORNET Clone from CHINA!!

Unfortunately the Chinese mfg’s. of this Sea Hornet knock off skipped or chose to ignore some very important details that compromise the quality, performance, reliability, and safety of the product....

Re: Conditions after Hurricane Michael in Clearwater

Fish often get very “chewy’ after a big storm. If there is no vis the prospect of good fishing may be a good enough reason to risk an offshore run.

Re: SEA HORNET Clone from CHINA!!

I doubt aluminum will expand enough to crack the plastic but lateral stresses will likely split it if it does not have any glass in it. However, wood expansion can definitely crack it. A good example...

Yep, the tip in the middle is the one they copied. Also, I believe the trigger mechanism they copied was the original version and not the more recent V3 version. Pete, maybe you could confirm my...

Well said:thumps: I am just guessing on this but I believe most diving related injuries/emergencies are caused by panic. Panic is often induced by a lack of proper training on how to deal with...

Re: Teak Oil Finish for Mahogany?

I agree on the Tung oil Wood Guy. I tried Watco Teak Oil but it took forever to dry enough to sand it smooth. Tung Oil dries enough to sand smooth in 24 to 48 hours and has a nice soft luster/gloss...
