Manasquan

Manasquan Inlet North was 6-8' today at high tide, no sun. I passed on a nice eel. The rod and reelers further out on the jetty were pulling in abies but I didn't see any in the inlet. Good dive...

Spearfishing Hereford inlet

Have you tried either spot yet this season?

Cape May inlet

Does anyone know if access to the Cape May inlet is permitted from the Coast Guard base? The hike in from the North side is doable but not worth the effort for no visibility....

New Jersey Inlets: The big four, and the small four.

I believe that there are eight inlets in NJ that one could dive, but two of those might not be worth a second look. I don't count Cape May because the Coasties seem to have it on lock, I could be...

Re: Daily Vis report thread

Good evening Captain Howard. I dove Barnegat Inlet on Tuesday and Absecon on Thursday. Barnegat was the best I've seen in ten dives, visibility was at least eight feet on both the North and South...

Manasquan inlet

I saw a few small Blackfish at Barnegat Inlet last week with scares. It makes me mad too, but not as mad as all the whisperers on the jetty are going to make me. Lots of fisherman disregard the...

This is the article that got me thinking:

"Barnegat spear fishermen*Mark Guenther struck a big 10-pound doormat fluke on a late day dive in Barnegat Inlet."

Spear/Freediving Club

I went freediving for about an hour today, caught high tide slack off of a beach in Ocean Gate. Figured I'd get a look for myself. ...

Re: low vis, fog, poor seal ... great dive

I noticed when I downloaded it too, much clearer on my desktop. I'll have a gun ready for the Bluefish run, looking forward to it. In the meantime, read Carlos Eyles, Last of the Blue Water Hunters. ...

low vis, fog, poor seal ... great dive

Good job Ric. No problem, I'll pull something out of it. As you can see my mask was giving me problems. Your mask looked clear. Is it new, or do you wash it with a special detergent or baby shampoo? ...

5mm in Oyster Creek ...

Great, I need a still for my profile.

Ric, I think you're correct, there's more neoprene on your suit, even though mine is 5.5mm. A few more lb's should help compensate. I just picked up three,...

Dive Barnegat Inlet in December

E4 is an NCO, in which branch of service is it not?

Yes, very confusing. You took it out of context. My point was that most E4's I used to know, Corporals that is, wouldn't put up with civilians...

Dive Barnegat Inlet ...

Well, I do have a 7mm ...

Ric, how long were you diving with 20lbs, when did you lose the sandbag? I figure I could use 2-4 lbs more -- it would help me both invert and drop faster. However, I...

Yes, well said Ric. With about two hours and ten minutes in the water, I had only just started to feel the chill when the tide forced us out. Credit too Ric, for reading the charts and the water...
