Re: Sporasub america one alternative

Afaik they have minor differences in diameter. I cut my own on a lathe from a bit of stainless pipe and although both cones had the same diameter, they had a different fit on two separate shafts from...

Re: Sporasub america one alternative

Yep, I've given up on the RA spears too, considering their price in Oz and NZ. The only ss shafts with a reasonable quality here are Riffe, but again at over $100 a pop you still flinch a glimpse of...

Re: Sporasub america one alternative

There's a sporasub one shaft you're describing for their sk40 gun but max length is 130 at 6.4mm thickness. The beauty with the hardened flopper is only available for their One air. Being in the same...

Re: Need help: How to remove trigger mechanism for Sporasub One 105

Just had a look at mine and unfortunately it seems you can pull it only from top with a major operation. However, the pin in the back and the one in the handle lets you remove handle and butt, making...

Re: Rob allen misfired

RA had a trigger recall a while ago, if you still have the old black one, you'll get it exchanged for the grey. Won't fix it if there's an issue with the sear though, may pay to take a closer look.

Re: Small reel recommendations

I have an ermes colibri in my shelf reserved for my next reef gun. Can't give you a review just yet, since it won't get wet for a while, but it looks quite sturdy and very well built. Worth a look.

Re: Gladiator Bestiarius 112 inverted roller

Haha – if this is your 'standard' model, I'd be really keen on seeing the deluxe version. This is a piece of art, great and inspiring work!

Re: Weedtrimmer line for Mono?

No, of course it's not worth loosing a shaft over. Though if it is the exact same stuff, off the same roll, from the same factory it's neither worth paying a premium for -insert brand here-...

Re: Help with wood

Since you're in Australia – have you considered Jarrah? Has very similar density to Padauk and I have seen them work.
You could also get a big slab of Puriri from NZ – there have been two solid...

Re: Weedtrimmer line for Mono?

Thanks for that –*I'm in NZ, so chances are we have access to the same brands. I'll see how it goes…**

Re: Threaded inserts for reel mount

Jason, is that a dab of silicone grease (as used for gaskets and o-rings) or the gluey stuff you'd use for fixtures and things around the bathroom?

Re: Weedtrimmer line for Mono?

Thanks Phil. That looks like the ticket, but won't get it in my neck of the woods. Not going to risk loosing a shaft with the line.

Re: Weedtrimmer line for Mono?

Well, I thought it may have even more tensile strength, given it needs to be as abrasive resistant as possible. Think it will have more memory though?

Weedtrimmer line for Mono?

Found 1.6mm nylon weedtrimmer line in our garden shop and it looks exactly like the stuff they sell in the shops for 3x the price. I bought 30m, but won't have the chance to test anytime soon. My...

Re: Fiberglass fins damaged, how bad is this ?

Wooha Dano, that sounds scary. I contracted Lyme des ease from a tick bite when I was 12. I had to walk (on and off) on crutches, had swollen joints, etc. for 9 years. Fizzled out in the last 30...

Re: Calling KW Tony

I'd replace the muzzle with a shovel head and use it as gardening tool. Would double as a conservation starter.

Re: Spearo spearfishing art

Had a play the last couple of months: I found a moulded shell from a spiny rocklobster. Propped it up and let dry.
After a wee while I got it 3D scanned so you can watch it in all its glory here:...

Hi there, I'm keen on tackling my next gun and stumbled about someone mixing Rosawa in their laminates but I never followed up. This time round I wanted to go with an oil finish after having a hard...

Re: Speargun testing bechmark

Most likely because the market for spearguns is ridiculously small compared to standard guns. Bigger brands have their own testing tanks, but why would they spend hundreds of dollars when people...

Re: installing neptonics reef line release

Well, technically it's a resurrected thread spearomurray was asking a question that has never really been answered. I had a similar issue with the same trigger last year.
Anyway shows the value...

Re: installing neptonics reef line release

I mounted the same last year. I can't tell the distance, (can measure if you want me to) since results may vary. However, I didn't use a jig and figured it with a small offcut aligned to the trigger...
