Red face Re: Worst weather conditions to dive

I once heard a guy answer that question by saying:

"Whenever the wave height is higher than the viz"

Be safe out there

Re: treasure hunt, bobbing for led... no one believes me, well check it out

Hey Rene,
I totally believe you.

There is one spot on a very popular fishing spot in South Africa at a place called "Inyoni Rocks" at Amanzimtoti.
A magnet for fisherman to loose tackle. Lots...

Re: Rob Allen float flag rig?

Pleasure Rob.
Give my regards to Jeremy and the other old-fart spearos, too numerous to mention.

Rob,
Oops, I have a feeling that I may have sent the wrong plug!
I have at least 3 * different...

Re: Rob Allen float flag rig?

JetBoy,
I found a spare plug. Its a black male threaded plug with a extra small hole for the flag pole.
If you cannot find one locally to match Rob's specifications, PM me with your address and I...

Re: Rob Allen float flag rig?

If you are interested, give me a day or so and I will look through my spares box as I could have a spare adapter. I am sure I have seen one there somewhere.

Re: Anyone know what happened to Zenspearo aka Joe Gnuyen

We used to have contact with Joe in the earlier days of Florida Freedivers. Always pleasant, full of humour and a great customer.
Cherryl and I both miss him.

Be safe out there.

Re: My Octopus Teacher.

Sigh,
I suggest a nice Video, with a hint on diving and fish life, and then someone changes it to a discussion on Netflix.
Disappointed.

My Octopus Teacher.

A nice video from the kelp in South Africa.

Now on Netflix. Search for "My Octopus Teacher"
Sorry but not sure if I could link it?
Pretty interesting.
Not sure if it has featured on SB before?...

Re: Cheap spearsjafts flopper type??

We are going back quite a few years now, but at one time I did supply Dan, in bulk, with flopper style shafts.

This was at the time while I was owning and running Florida Freedivers.
These were...

Re: Ok then...

IMHO It would not need to be over 100 HP. We had a 25ft Imemsa Panga which operated more than adequate with a single 70 HP Yamaha.

Be safe out there.

Re: How to lose a speargun

Hi Rene,
There is another option ie a belt reel.
I see it was just mentioned by Marco.
Also useful if you make a bad shot, get spooled on your gun reel and do not want to apply too much drag....

Hawaiian Sling Shafts

4 off 72" * 9/32" sling shafts.
I believe they are ABB shafts and have not been used.
Came off a yacht whose contents I am clearing.
Will take $50 for all four.
Not willing to pack and ship but...

Re: 3 for price of 1 - Shafts.

Hi Alashaman,
Not sure if FF have it on their website, as I very seldom look at it.
Ask them directly.
I have seen that storefront (avatar) before? SD?
Thanks,
Mike.

Does Mid-West Floods influence viz in the Keys?

I have a two week trip, starting tomorrow, in the Marathon area.
Got my diving mate from the UK joining us.
Towing the Panga down.

BIG question is whether the extra dirty water from the flooding...

3 for price of 1 - Shafts.

Hi All,

Hopefully not breaking any SB major rule or protocol here.
I no longer have any commercial ties to Florida Freedivers, so I think I am okay.

Had to pick up some spares for an upcoming...

Re: Rob Allen Carbon Fiber Barrels

Hi Jolinedaniel,

For 110 cm and below, I would question the necessity of going to carbon?

The strength of the 110 and below ali barrels is more than enough to stop the barrel bowing, unless you...

Re: Lionfish Shooter with small trident

I go along with the polespear concept.
At least it would be legal in the Bahamas.

Re: Storing full foot pocket fins

Hey Gary,
What make of fins are you using?

The reason I ask is that a lot of full pocket fins will not allow the heel tab to be bent back and under.
If I remember from the shop days, Omer and a...

Hi Gary H,
I have been putting my fins on that way for about the last forty years or so.
Still doing it, especially with my practice swim fins at the local pool.
However, I would not dream of...

Re: Wahoo with a reef gun, good idea?

Nice fish Rene!
Did you manage to weigh it?

The video was great

Good to see that you are still out there a lot.
