Re: Tigers in the Bahamas.

They used to do shark feedings around Walkers in the 80's and 90's but I believe they stopped about 15 years ago. I spent over a month at the nearby Double Breasted Cays back in '95, and it was...

Re: What do you look at to decide if conditions are good enough to go out?

So many factors that will determine what is comfortable or not for you, but for gauging the sea conditions I use a combination of the windfinder app and the NWS offshore report for the area at...

Re: Benefits for Killing Lionfish

That's one of the great things about hunting lionfish in Florida, there is no recreational limit. So while you are out there harvesting on your boat you are doing it as 'recreation' and can take as...

Re: Roll control mounting on curve ideas

If you don't need much of a curve you might want to try the pvc track instead of the aluminum. http://www.ecpdb.com/rollcontrol.htm#PVC Track

Re: Benefits for Killing Lionfish

It's not much of a stretch for anyone to sell lionfish. The SPL covers the recreational saltwater license including the snook and lobster stamps. The individual SPL only costs a few dollars more than...

Re: Question on Pole Spear Selection or Construction for Research Project

Thanks for the recommendation Killian, but unfortunately Neptonics doesn't carry the Foldspear anymore. I had inventory issues for a few months last year and apparently that upset Josh. You can still...

Re: Wanted gopro hero 2 dive housing

Good luck with that, they're hard to come by and gopro doesn't make them anymore. You can still get a flat lens for them though....

Re: Spearing in Barbados

I dove with Alex in Barbados last week and would definitely recommend looking up http://spearfishingbarbados.com/ if you are headed down there. I had a great time and he took care of everything, pick...

Re: Flat lens option for GoPro Hero 2?

yea, I'm not real happy. I'm having trouble getting it to seal. It doesn't come with a new o-ring, and so far my first couple attempts are still leaking at 6' in the pool. :( Buying a new $500 Hero...

Re: Flat lens option for GoPro Hero 2?

Thanks, I'm not sure how I missed finding that one. Once I knew to look for the "Oculus flat lens" I found another seller here in the U.S. that can have it to me in a few days for $29....

Re: Flat lens option for GoPro Hero 2?

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on that one. Notice how all of the ones with 'buy it now' prices are $140 and up. :)

Flat lens option for GoPro Hero 2?

I have a perfectly good GoPro Hero 2 camera that has developed a blurry spot in the middle of the flat lens on the housing. GoPro doesn't sell the flat lens housings anymore, Mako spearguns where I...

Re: Grouper Eating Lionfish Video

No, the venom seems to affect warm blooded creatures like us much more than cold blooded fish. You can tell by how unnaturally comfortable the grouper is with the divers all around it that it has...

Re: Lionfish

Not sure if you've seen this lionfish control plan proposed by Candy Hansard. I've seen some scientists and fishery management people roll their eyes at it, but I think it has merit if we could get...

Re: Lionfish container

I believe it was about 5-7 gallons. I think you'd be much happier swimming with the 2 to 2.5 gallon version over the 5.

I also put a GoPro mount on the side of my container near the mouth, which...

I think I've used just about every lionfish container or bag out there, including some homemade ones of similar size to yours. I think yours will work fine, but there are a couple of advantages to...

Re: 13'6" Boston Whaler tender/spearfishing boat

Those little whalers are great tenders if you've got the capacity to carry it, I once restored a 1961 13'6" whaler also in similar condition to yours. I found that the core in mine had soaked up a...

Re: Inflatable "spearfishing" Boat Restoration

Good job. After looking at the first couple of pictures I would have told you it's not worth fixing, but you seem to be making a go of it.

Re: What can you tell me about this inflatable?

5200 remains somewhat flexible, which is why its real purpose is a bedding compound, not a 'glue' as it's so often used for. It's surprisingly good for patching pinhole leaks on pvc and hypalon tubes...

Re: What can you tell me about this inflatable?

Yea, I also tried everything under the sun to repair my dying pvc inflatable. 5200 was the best I found, got about a week out of that repair. :D
