Re: Dive buddy in Arizona

Hey guys, I've been to San Carlos many times, just got back from our annual two weeks spearfishing trip to San Carlos . Some questions - we mostly go there last weeks of June but water is getting...

Re: Masks that are actually anti fog

Second that. Took about 3 years of vacationing\spearfishing together with my newbie friends for them to notice that my mask don't fog. After that I introduce toothpaste trick to them... Another...

Re: Has anyone worked on developing speargun sights?

Calibrating the laser was definitely interesting. I didn't figure out any better way to mount it than using reel mounts and set of spacers. Don't have pool at home so crude adjustment was done on...

Re: Has anyone worked on developing speargun sights?

Re: Riffe OR!? Koah. I realize there are no bad choices here.

My Koah shoots more accurate than my Riffe by about 20% at 15 ft (pool). Well, Wong shoots better yet, my next one will be Denton probably :-)... It is not all about accuracy though. Koah handles...

Re: Riffe OR!? Koah. I realize there are no bad choices here.

I own both Riffe and Koah. Non-Euros both, both on the short side ~42 in for reef spearing. Riffe for long years, Koah just months. At 15 feet (pool) Koah is noticeable more accurate, both of them...

Re: So, help me choose a new speargun

I usually hunting in 15-60 ft with 10-50 ft of visibility. Based on visibility used 42" Riffe or 55" composite Wong. Both perform solid, Wong have definite edge on 20' shots if a particular fish is...

Re: "Kinda new"with some Questions

Waveman, don't worry so much about some of the MrKnowAll's around here. Key to the good apnea is not only relaxed body, but relaxed mind :-). Lidiver apparently MUST know better what to do then...

Re: "Kinda new"with some Questions

I second MSASSO. Technique I use - I practice my apnea while driving from work (not pushing the limits too far for obvious reasons) but driving activity helps to distract from the time watching....

Re: When to use a slip tip or a flopper

Wong's shafts are destroyable or rather bendable as my and my wife's experience prooves. They are fixable too so if you have any chance to hit a rock - go with flopper. For the blue water\bigger game...

Re: Advice on picking the "right" gun??

On 'not reliable pneumatics' notion. My first pneumatic (60 cm, Russian made) broke down (literally, the inner alluminium tube broke in two pieces) after 38!!! years of service. I suspect that it...
