Re: Thoughts on Abellan Albacore 130 vs Bleutec Oceanborn 125 & King Cobra

Thanks Majd, I like the original handle very much and do not struggle to reach for the trigger but I can see how additional filler at the base of the fingers and a small rotation could help shift...

Re: Thoughts on Abellan Albacore 130 vs Bleutec Oceanborn 125 & King Cobra

Hi Majid, it is one of the very first original Abellan in teak. I would love any additional suggestion you may have. I have already bought a double roll ermes mech but not keen on changind the screws...

Re: Roisub 115 Demo3

I like the Evosub concept, getting rid of the pulleys but in this video the shot looks fairly slow or am I wrong? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pktWOO1RV6U

Re: Ermes double roller trigger for Denton?

Hi Majd,
in your video on the trigger you mention that you had to do a small modification to fit it to the Albacore 130. I now see 4 different models on the Ermes website. do you know which one...

Re: SUP hunting

very lucky man! that sup is a beauty! I need something similar in Italy and I am considering modifying an old 12' long windsurf board, obviously flattening the keel and sharpening the entry point.

Re: Testing Pathos Sniper 125

Usually replying or reacting to trolls only gratifies their petty needs. Shall we get back to discuss spearguns ballistic?

Re: Testing Pathos Sniper 125

For a given spear mass, (same weight) would a shorter 8mm shaft differ significantly in behaviour than as a longer 7mm one?
I am aware that the longer/thinner one may suffer from whip if...

Re: Testing Pathos Sniper 125

Hi Majd,
I have watched your video comparing the 14mm small id (which in the last batch I ordered actually came in 13.2mm) and the 14.5mm small id, but was wandering if you tried other larger...

Re: Crimping stiff spectra

The figure of 8 can be made flatter with a couple of gentle taps with a tool. Also since the turns are larger and with double lines, there should be in theory less tight pinch and more shock...

Re: Crimping stiff spectra

what line thickness were you using for the Bimini twist? I think with spectra it may be possible to do it with only a few twists. I have not yet seen the Benthic line, is it a little waxed as the...

Re: Crimping stiff spectra

Perhaps, the second knot close to the end of the line, if placed on the end part, may be less subject to pinching under tension. If the crimp is not done correctly it may also weaken the line by...

Re: Crimping stiff spectra

From rock-climbing where pull test and slippage can make a life or death difference, I have learned that the strongest tie-in knot is the figure-of-eight follow-through, which, when pull-tested,...

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance

Thanks, you are right my bands measure 13.2 and clearly not suitable for my needs. Since I have bought 30 feet of it and I am based in Panama will try with 3 bands @ 370-380 while I wait for a new...

Re: 2 or 3 bands for best performance

Hoping not to derail the discussion too much... on my Denton 120 I have mounted two 14mm small id primeline bands at x360 but do not feel I have enough power for my 8mm x140cm short shaft.... ...

Re: Abellan Albacore 130 Test

After so much praise of the Abellan guns, to be fair there were a few small things I thought could have been better on my 2013 Denton 120:
The steel band holder had the flanges sticking out too much...

Re: Best bluewater shooting line rigging ?

On my reef gun I use the Riffe 600lb Spectra 1.7mm with a double figure 8 knot which has a low profile and is pretty strong. On the Wong Supermagnum 65 I use cable but would love to find a safer...

Re: Abellan Albacore 130 Test

OK, but rather than using a number which does not correspond to any measurement on the gun, it would make more sense just to use a different name for each model without measure...like Denton, Cubera,...

Re: Abellan Albacore 130 Test

[QUOTE=spearq8;2134004]Yeah ... I think it was to make the size of the gun more inline with other guns out there. This is especially true when Abellan started selling a lot of guns in the US market....

Re: Abellan Albacore 130 Test

Many thanks, I have not seen either the Denton 130 or Albacore 120 on the Abellan website but Majd initially referred, in a test, to a Denton 130 adding that the name had been changed to Albacore...

Re: Abellan Albacore 130 Test

I have been getting very confused, especially since Abellan has changed the names... Is the Albacore 120 the same or very similar to the Denton 130? I and how different are they from the NEW Denton...
