Yes it's legal to catch and keep octopus in Florida. I have caught several of them while beach diving in South Florida. I don't eat them but my family does and they say octopus taste good.

Re: Masses Of Seaweed Threaten Fisheries And Foul Beaches

This past weekend I went to a beach in Broward and saw lots of seaweeds covering the whole shoreline for at least 100 feet. The water visibility was less than 4 feet and the water had a nasty brown...

Re: I found a fish

Don't forget Burmese pythons. I caught a 10 foot Burmese python recently and humanely euthanized it. Called FWC and told them where I caught it. They where very happy and they encourage anyone who is...

Re: I found a fish

Doesn't surprise me one bit you found a lagoon triggerfish while diving in South Florida. I saw a clownfish like the one in the Finding Nemo in the Miami area when I first started to freedive about...

Re: Moving to California

I dove in mid/late October with a 5/7mm wetsuit and felt no cold whatsoever. This size should be good for most diving in Southern California and you can get a smaller/larger thickness if you want...

Re: Moving to California

I was very fortunate to have caught a huge +10 pound sand bass from my first shoredive in Southern California while on vacation. I agree with you the big ones are not that easy to catch and can...

Re: Big Mutton

I agree that it is rare to see a mutton act like a grouper and hide in caves. That huge mutton was the biggest mutton I have caught while doing freedive spearfishing so far and I look towards to...

Re: Big Mutton

Nice mutton. I caught one a little bigger than that one a couple years ago while freediving in caves for grouper. That was one of the few muttons I have seen inside a cave and I have caught the vast...

Re: 2018's Red Grouper season is 2 mths>Fl fed east coast waters

I have not spearfished as long as many of the older members here but I have spearfished and fished long enough to know that fishing regulations are getting more strict as time passes. I can only...

Re: How young to start spearfishing

Good subject. I learned how to swim when I was 4-5 years old and did not get into real diving until I was 17-18 years old. Before that I just swam in pools, lakes, etc which is a joke compared to the...

Re: Make Spearboard Great Again

I read every single post made so far in this subject and agree that this forum needs to be improved to what it used to be but I also feel its not doing so bad. Yes there are those here who post +99%...

Re: Most "Yeti" Evidence Is Actually From Brown Bears

Me and my family saw a black panther or black puma while visiting a forested area close to the ocean in South Florida. This was well over 25 years ago when there was less urban development. It was...

Re: Most "Yeti" Evidence Is Actually From Brown Bears

Re: Is it the gun or diver? Shot missed

This subject reminds me of rod and reel fishing where some think that custom rods make a fisherman better yet plenty of fishermen are doing great with Ugly Stiks. Same thing applies for spearfishing....
