Re: Middle Grounds Trip 6/1

I'd say a little north of about the middle. Did one spot even further north but it was full of gumbo

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Nice video. I'll second the Youtube suggestion. It's free and easy. I started with OneDrive too but it's just not as easy to share and you either have to pay for space or you run out of space.

Re: Middle Grounds Trip 6/1

I think probably as much as anything, I'm just not as comfortable with that gun. It's a custom semi-enclosed double barrel which my wife bought for me. It's more of a chest loader, and I haven't...

Re: Middle Grounds Trip 6/1

Thanks guys. Each trip out there has been better. Would really like to go a few times a year but easier said than done with work, family and weather.

Re: Why are my groupers and snappers cooking into rubber??

Probably overcooking. You can cook them all the ways you mentioned. Hardest to screw up is fried fish in the fryer. Second hardest to screw up is in a hot cast iron pan in butter, flip once, and...

Middle Grounds Trip 6/1

We took 5 divers (2 teams) and 15 tanks to the Middle Grounds on 6/1. Left Clearwater Pass at 6:15 am and the first set of divers was in the water by 9:30. Two foot or less seas that got better as...

Re: Lion fish out of St Pete

I find them intermittently in most depths but the deeper you go the more you find. Now we're never targeting them. But I'll sometimes see one or two in 40 - 60 feet. Usually small. 75 feet and...

Re: Video Highlights from Sunday, April 7th, 2019

Have had that issue too. One they mentioned to me is to slow down and let it turn all the way on before rotating to video. Then let video boot all the way up before starting to record. I havenít...

That was an ornery shark. Were you using the green DCC on your paralenz?

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

Out of JP yesterday. First stop 85 foot. Tons of mangroves and lionfish. Got one 5.5 lb mango and a ton of lionfish. Viz was great. Hard to give a good estimate on how good because you could see...

Re: Out of JP 3-25-19

Thanks for the report. We're looking to get out this weekend. We were out a couple weeks ago and had similar conditions in that depth out of Clearwater. Shallow (35 feet), while green had better...

Re: Anybody else done diving till spring?

I agree that there are multi-factorial reasons for fish decline or improvement. Just letting you know my observations. And people whether commercial or recreational are putting a ton of hook and...

Re: Anybody else done diving till spring?

I'm thinking as much of the charter and other hook and line guys that are working / fishing in the winter blowing up the hogs hook and line. Now that they've all learned that trick, and the hogs are...

Re: Anybody else done diving till spring?

Just observations over the last 4 plus years of diving mostly 35-75 with some deeper from time to time. Gags have gotten better. Red snapper have gotten tremendously better. Legal red grouper can...

I grew up here too but just late to pick it up. Getting my kids involved as kids to make up for it.

Re: Anybody else done diving till spring?

We'll dive all through the winter if we get days with decent seas and we can put a boat together. We did a couple nice dives a couple weeks ago and shot a good number of decent hogs. I can enjoy my...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

We did 2 dives yesterday in 70-75 feet out of JP. Viz was probably up to maybe 20 feet. Horizontal was better. Silted up real easy though. First dive was real fishy. Lots of hogs and a variety...

Re: Paralenz Underwater Compact Camera

What's funny is those are regular flashlights. It was so dark under the red tide that the Paralenz color adjustment made the flashlights look like pink lasers.

Re: Paralenz Underwater Compact Camera

I've been using one for about 6 months. It's a little buggy with the software. I've had some issues with overexposure, which is frustrating. The company is good at responding for service or help...

Re: Current Vis - Tampa Bay Region (Homosassa to Sarasota)

65 foot out of JP was 10-15 foot viz. Big lobster, nice lion fish and small hogs. Hook and line was nice too.
