Re: Double Roller Trigger for Pathos handle, Ermes Sub

Another update; the one I have in my D1 handle has a very smooth pull but it does sit a tiny bit proud. At some point I’ll pull it out and see if I didn’t take enough handle material off or whether...

Re: MVD Double Roller Mech

Yeah, I think there’s money and some proper research behind Huntmaster. In this case, I think they had picked up on the buzz of the Ermes trigger and felt it would help launch their product line. So,...

Re: New Abellan Denton 2019

Just to make it clear, on this whole thread this new Abellan with the upgrades Majd mentioned is indeed “the American Abellan”, haha. Greekdiver is, afaik, living in the US and the partners behind...

MAKO Spearguns Quick Ditch Belt Reel

I’m a big believer in belt reels (who ever sells them) but actually, you may soon find that having it clipped to the gun most of the time adds a nice benefit: you can let go of the gun on the surface...

New Abellan Denton 2019

That’s good news. I guess it means the whole thing did work out in the end?

I’m surprised we haven’t seen it mentioned here or perhaps I missed it.

New Abellan Denton 2019

Well, there isn’t sadly but there was supposed to be. Maybe @Greekdiver or someone else can lay the speculation to rest with an update?

As for Orca, then it was the guy I talked to. I think they...

New Abellan Denton 2019

Isn’t the Orca Spanish?
I remember chatting to someone about a year ago who was indeed making what looked like a CF Abellan and I wanted to get a feel for if they had some sort of permission or...

The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

I actually had the parts for a 3:1 version of my PulleyLoader for my airgun but turned out 2:1 was enough for my use. But 3:1 would possibly give me a bit more control of the shaft during loading so...

Garmin MK2

Great feedback on the Garmin.

As for the Suunto series of D4s in their various guises - batteries are actually very easy to change by the user. Suunto just don’t advise it. Partly I guess cuz...

Re: Cetma Prana Carbon Composite Freedive Fins?

Aren’t they the quite long ones?
If so, keep in mind that you might very well hang them up a bit more if you’re doing a lot of aspetto/aguatto.
I dive with a guy who uses them and in bluewater he...

Garmin MK2

It’s kinda funny cuz I’ve spent weeks or rather months researching fish finders and for the entry/medium level ones I’m looking at, I’ve seen quite a lot of reviewers saying they don’t trusts their...

Garmin MK2

I’ll chime in with a question; I’ve seen a few of these at my friend’s freedive school and often I see them plugged in and charging. I wonder if battery life is an issue?

(Musubi, the freedive...

Moving to PC in 2 weeks

Look up “Marco” here. His profile pic will be of a happy spearo holding a big wahoo in the back of a boat;-)

I’m pretty sure he lived there before he moved to Florida fairly recently. He might...

How To Avoid Blisters?

Ok, a belated update on this subject.
Back in spring, before we closed down my friend’s freedive shop due to Covid, I trained with a guy who also had problems with rubbing the skin off of his toes....

Re: The Infinite Engines Dreamair moves from dream to reality

Nice fish. The previous video he put out had some recoil, too leading me to conclude/speculate that the gun has really been powered up recently. I pointed it out to Andrea who seemed almost offended...

Re: Does epoxy hold silicon? (for gun butt pad)

If you’re a gun builder you’ll have epoxy around and perhaps you can cut a small sample of the silicone in question and make a test to verify for yourself...?
I spoke in general terms about and I...

Re: Does epoxy hold silicon? (for gun butt pad)

Short answer; no.
As a rule, only silicone will stick to silicone but it’s hard to find a good silicone adhesive.
If the mat is actually PU or rubber and not silicone then yes, you can use an...

Who makes the best rubber

I checked in with my Chinese friend who runs a spear gear shop in south China and he said the same. He said that in his experience and what he hears from users is that the local rubber just drops off...

Re: Who makes the best rubber

Primeline does make a standard ID rubber and while I only have small ID rubber from them - I haven’t yet seen that cold, grayish color for the core.
There’s a lot of really bad rubber being made in...

Crack in Bleutec gun

Nice to hear a differing opinion bit I really can’t stress enough that a repair that might very well work in a solid material like wood may very well fail on a thin composites shell. They are...

Dyneema shooting line for roller?

If you are asking about the constrictor knot, you can normally cut those with a very sharp blade without hurting the rubber. But consider switching to inserts or at least make the knot you insert end...

Crack in Bleutec gun

Please don’t bother with only epoxy. While epoxy is strong it's nothing compared to the fibers in a laminate. For epoxy to work on its own you need a fairly large glue bond (surface area) and nicely...

Crack in Bleutec gun

That’s a good point - I didn’t spot the silicone though I’m not sure if acetone will do much to it.
But it’s important to notice that if there’s silicone around you have to be extremely careful...

Re: Crack in Bleutec gun

Yeah, I can see that approach working on a wood gun. But not on a composite gun. The surface area you have between the two edges of the crack is nothing compared to what it would be in a solid wood...
