Bluefin off Newport Beach: 10/23/19

...Yesterday, Bluefin popped up 1/4 mile off Dana Point and also surfaced off Newport Beach. Foamers could be seen from the Newport pier and reputed to have been seen off the Huntington Beach pier. The half-day boat did well.....The fish are running 30 to 100 lbs with a 60 lb. average...A 221 lb. Yellowfin was hooked and landed off Long Point, Catalina yesterday..(Confirmed with photo of fish on the green pier at Avalon...caught on a cedar plug)..
....Also, reports of Bluefin along the inside of Catalina and mid-channel between the 14 Bank and the East End of the island...Confirmed schools of Bluefin from 40 to 60 lbs in the shipping lane between Long Beach and the east end of Catalina..Small yellowfin seen chasing bait between Ship Rock and Bird Rock..tuna also on Avalon Bank....
...With tons of baitfish out there, the gamefish are sticking around, including a very rare sighting of a 15' Megamouth shark under a boat, caught on video...Porpoise schools are holding...expecting to see wahoo at the oil rigs, any time now!...The fat lady isn't singing yet!
