Re: Planning dive trip over spring break to South Padre...HELP!
Does anyone remember what the water temps are on the South Jetties in March? I am contemplating a possible free-dive down there w/Polespear-- what sorta current + fish are down that way?? I'd like to hear from people who have actually dive the jetties...

I Know! So far on my dives, near the end of March, the temps have been near 70 degrees + or - a few.
The upside is stacks of Cubera at the 30 mi. rigs. |

Re: Planning dive trip over spring break to South Padre...HELP!
It all depends on currents we have water to be anywhere from 65 to 72 an open cell 3 mil is more than enough.as far as fish it will be mostly sheephead at jetties.very rare have we found mangrove at jetty that time of year...pole spear should be fun for sheepies....fyi all rigs out of south padre are gone, nearest rig is like 70 miles....
Good luck... Cesar Stx freedivers |

I'm just saying if you know were to look there's "nice" fish on SPI, Packery, and Port A! Mansfield also has good fish! March I've seen jack cravelle, mangroves, spine lobster, and big flounder! Sheepshead, and black drum! Which jetty well most of them! And last year Ihad 30' vis on spi for 3+days! Was awesome the base rocks are huge on that jetty looks like atlantis on a good day!
