Theonetruerat...... can you provide me with details of how you did the roller part of the gun where you got the materials etc and if it's your current project can you update us with the current status and visuals.

Thank you.

I actually posted that build under "32 roller mahogany roller gun"
Those rollers were salvaged from a sunken sailboat but they can be had from these folks here

-http://www.rigrite.com/spars/SparParts/sheaves_wide.html#1" Wide Sheaves -

They are really proud of them though. And they charge a bundle for shipping.

Sea hunter uses these folks. --http://www.rigrite.com/spars/SparParts/sheaves_wide.html#1" Wide Sheaves -

The brackets are made with stainless flat stock. That stock is scrap material from metal leg orthotics but it can be bought from Enco. It's just 1/8" thick 3/4" wide 316 stainless. I sketch out what I want on a piece of card stock and then use a hammer and a vice to form the bends. The nice thing about angling the brackets is that they are easy to fudge to the width that you want if you don't get them just right. Harder to fudge when you do 90 degree bends. I could detail this with some pictures if you want. The other pictures are of the muzzle of a roller gun built by Gilbert Gracula which I snagged from his web site. This style is a bit easier because the wood work is easier. One thing that I like to do is tie a big knot on the wishbone. This makes a bit of a bulge that keeps the end of the band above the roller when you shoot. Makes the re-load easier.

Then.. . If you want to look at some roller gun history. Check out Jack Prodanovich's guns. http://rocknfish.com/Rollergun.html

Re: roller gun question

What would happen if you leave the roller out of a roller gun? Is water enough lubricant to be able to load the bands and let them retract smoothly or is the roller absolutely necessary for this type of gun to work? Anyone ever try? Just trying to figure out how to make as thin and flat a barrel as possible
