dive cedar key

West Coast of florida, Cedar Key area
always looking for a spearo to share in some great diving. we have wrecks, natural and artificial systems and a really great spot called 'the pit". It was a free flowing spring some years ago but has since gone static. 40 ft. max depth and loaded with fish according to season. Our boat is a 21 ft. sea Ray Luguna walkaround, six tank racks, 200 hp. Merc. We mostly are weekend worriors so get in touch!!

Any time you need somewhat to fillout a crew let me know a couple of days in advance. I have been wanting to dive that area for a long time.

Re: dive cedar key

Would like to bring my boat up there some day. Is there any good places near shore within nine miles to make it worth the haul? Are you asking for cost share or are you a charter? If charter whats the cost, how many tanks and how many people?

Damm man wish i would have know this 2 weeks ago when we passed through there. From the key the vis looks real murky and the water real shallow.. When you go out how far out are you going?

I think one of the resturants there served me fake grouper?

There are only 2 good resturants that I know of in Cedar key, and none of them are on that strip outside the boat ramp. I think I had fake grouper on that strip too. I even called them on it and they brought out this frozen fillet that was wider and thinner than and looked unlike any grouper fillet i've ever seen... anyways, you have to normally run 20-30 miles to get shootable vis and 40 if you want to get some good vis.

Re: dive cedar key

I'd be interested. Scuba OK? I'm afraid my free diving days are long gone. 55, PADI Instructor for 30years, current 6pack license. I have my own boat but don't know my way around the Cedar Key area.
I'm going out of Daytona this weekend, but after that .... let me know

Re: dive cedar key

I'll be back in FL for three weeks over Christmas and I would love to do some Gulf shooting, so all you Big Bend fellas keep me in mind. The grouper should be slow and dumb by then, too.
