Rashguard color

Eventually when I get further into the sport, I'm sure I'll get some full sleeve 6mm wet suit with the hood and try to stay real toasty.

But for now, I'm mostly trying to stick to the gear I already have. For Christmas, I had gotten an Xterra Volt for swimming my triathlons. It is a sleeveless 3mm.

I would like to use a rashguard to protect my arms. I do own a bright orange one (purchased specifically for high visibility during open water swim training) but am thinking that might scare away the fish. Should I get a black one? A camo one? Do the fish care?

I don’t think the fish care what color you wear. But, suggest you get a rash guard with a chest pad for loading the speargun. Mako offers them in blue or green camo. The blue would match the logo on your wetsuit. Maybe the fish would like that.

right, color doesn't matter.. just get one with a chest pad. But to keep you warmer, I would get at least a 1.5mm with hood..

I am located in Baltimore, Maryland.

The nearest places to dive that have any visibility whatsoever are 2.5 hours to the mouth of the Delaware bay, or 5 hours to the mouth of the Chesapeake bay.

Right now, Virginia Beach water temperature is listed at 77 degrees, and Lewes is listed at 73 degrees. I do not know how much colder it gets descending the thermocline.

Re: Rashguard color

You should be fine with a 2mm suit at those temps. I use a 1mm but I’m in 83 degree waters.
