Post Marine street Report

Hi everyone i am new to spearboard and have just started spearfishing and i have been going to marine street for the past couple weeks and i love it!!! Well anyways i went a couple weeks ago and had an outstanding time, visibility was clear to about 15-20 feet. I speared a lot of perch, 1 sheephead(female), and a senorita fish. I saw numerous bass but they are very sketchy, i also got a nice Giant Kelp Fish when i went the first time. I tried some lobstter diving and saw about 15 lobsters, all short but still cool. I am really enjoying spearfishing but i know there has to be better spots and could anyone help me out with that? It would be great if i could go with somebody sometime since my friend is allways busy.
- Thanks

Re: Marine street Report

Welcome man. Sounds like you're off to a good start! But I have to ask....a senorita, REALLY? Lol, are we talking about the same fish here --> http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl...:0&tx=88&ty=94

Those things are minnows. Kind of impressive that you actually hit one. How was it?

Actually I recall our mod Nate saying he ate one (Kelpfish) and he said it was quite good.

Yeah Marine St is The south end of Horseshoe Reef. I would tell you some good spots, but most of them just got closed.

Re: Marine street Report

Giant Kelpfish are quite tasty, I definitely vouch for that. Skin is smooth and scaleless like a cabezon and the meat is firm and oily. Very tasty IMHO.

Keep it up man, you seem to have the fire! Bigger and better fish will come with time if you have the desire, tools and access...

Re: Marine street Report

My son shoots all kinds of small stuff so we eat them. So far the kelp fish are the worst! Amazingly the blacksmith are actually pretty good!
