Yea I made the mistake of getting in local when the wind died down. It did it's job in the morning and the local viz was pretty terrible. Just enough to find a pair of decent bugs before I gave up.

Cool man, glad you got a couple but shitty about the vis. I might do a night dive in Sb if I hear there's any vis at all. Probably wont be.

Hookup, were you out with two other guys?
Ya man that was me. I was the one in the camo yakayasub wetsuit and the only one with a gun. They both had polespears, were you the guy who was debating on going out til you saw us than jumped in and had the dive float?

Yeah, that was me that talked to you on the trail and was diving with the red float. Glad I ran into you guys; with the way the wind looked I wasn't sure it was worth it. But I figured hell, if someone else was getting in, I might as well….

Ended up being a pretty good day out there. Nothing epic, but brought home a few fish for the table. Saw quite a few fat calicos but couldn't get in polespear range…missed my only shot on one.

Hit me up when you're going out; I'm always looking for partners and I'm good for gas, etc.

Xnomanx, did you take that cool photo of Anacapa? Very moody. I like it.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Sort of a report….

My first attempt at gyotaku (fish rubbing). A kelp bass (nothing special, just shy of 15") from the other day in my post above.

Looking to get better at these prints…

Going to dive Leo again early tomorrow morning, I'll post a vis report ASAP.

Nice gyotaku! Where can you get rice paper and non toxic paint?

The gyotaku looks great. Yep, looks like a rockfish. Did you use a brush to touch up? I like the black - color is always used.

Its got me thinking that I should try it in the coming months. I guess I should start preparing...

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Yeah, I use a brush as well as a pen to add detail/sharpen things up.

Here's another one from this morning at Leo Carrillo. Vis wasn't too great, maybe 10-15' max, but still an OK morning. Got stopped and checked by DFG on the way out, wanted to see my license and my fish. He was cool enough about it all.

Re: Malibu Conditions Permathread

Yesterday I had about 20 feet of vis in the 20-40 foot areas. In shallow the vis ranged from 10-15 to just a few feet. Looking for wsb. I was in the water for 7 hours and did not even see a short fish. I did manage to pick up a handful of lobster, for the effort.
Nice day in the water, but not many fish out. Even the reef fish were scattered.
