Re: Daily Vis report thread
LeMonstier I think your spot in south jersey is the same as my spot. Had an identical report the other day, massive school if spade fish, few sheepies. Loads of monster triggers that appeared out of no where when the tide turned.

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Did a 1:45min dive at BB. Vis alternated between 5' -30' depending on if I ran into any other divers who were silting everything up.

Re: Daily Vis report thread
ok so now that im home i can post a detailed report
Dove BB. Was in the water for around 4 hours. Vis was about 10-15' with spots of 20'. When i got in noone was in the water then about an hour before high tide i must of counted 7 dive flags and most of those were free divers. Oh and i was free diving for the first time. it was a blast! Alot more difficult than i thought. The spoils for today was my limit in fluke. A few things on a side note..... 1. I wore 12lbs to start with my 5mm jble suit and had a hard time getting and staying down. Next time ill try 15? 2. Dont pee in a open cell suit because no water passes through and the pee will be trapped until the suit is taken off. 3. For some reason my mask kept flooding halfway upon my descent. I wear the mask all the time for scuba diving and have no issues. i tightened the mask pretty good and it pretty much stopped leaking but then i got some killer mask squeeze. 4. Suit compression is killer. At the surface my weight belt fit. at 10-15' while descending, i found my weight belt sliding up to my rib cage. 5. I can hold my breath for 2 mins at the surface but found i could only hold it about 10 seconds on the bottom. maybe it had something to do with trying to clear the mask all the time and fighting to stay down. 6. Float line is a PITA. I found myself getting tangled in it all the time. 7. Once a catch bag is filled with 5 fluke it becomes very difficult to pull the buoy though the water. 8. my tongue was three times its normal size from all the salt water lol 9. OK so i know this is not a popular thing to discuss but i witnessed 2 people taking short fluke. They were a buddy team. They had a walmart (cheap) looking mask and snorkel and what looks like grandpas hand me down fins. the fins were black with pink tips. the kids looked like they were 18-25. i watched as one came up with what had to be a 13" fluke. I gave them the death stare but it didnt seem to connect with them. I would have said something but it was 2 against one. Also i dont think reporting it would have been good because that would just give the dep more cause to harass us. IDK.... Last edited by NJSpearo84; 06-29-2013 at 06:35 PM. |

Re: Daily Vis report thread
Last Wed vis was nice but only saw a couple big stripers and couldnt take a shot at them. Got 5 triggers and and a fluke.
This Saturday the waves were big and the vis wasnt amazing about 3-7'. Got 2 nice stripers and 2 triggers . The rip current was strong i couldnt drag my float back to the beach and had to climb over rocks to get out. Dove yesterday and the waves were even bigger. Got in and did a drift on the calmer side of the jetty, vis was around 2-4, saw only one fluke and some blacks. Didnt shoot anything. |
