Baja this Spring??

I would love to see an area on Spearboard dedicated to Baja, but until there is this seems to be the best place to post stuff.
As much as Baja has been over dove it is still one of the last frontiers for great diving.
I have been going there since the 70's and only in the last 10 years do I feel like I am really getting to know a few area well.
Highlights I have seen in my area of Mulege (mid way down on the Sea of Cortez side) in the last 2 years include:
World records with:
White Seabass
Saw tail group
Dog Snapper
Permit
Rooster fish and more
Many areas either seem to be making a great come back or just never got explored that well.
Baja is safe and fun for the full family. Great hotels, beaches, camping, exploring and world class spearfishing.
Let share some of the fun here and maybe we can even meet down in Baja for some epic hunts
This is where we stay for April and May most every year:

Re: Baja this Spring??

Moving down to Baja in a week with my girlfriend. Looking to land in a spot on the Sea of Cortez side. We are starting in San Jose del Cabo (Jan 15-Feb 6) and working our way north. I have been living in Sumatra for the last 2 years, still a beginner at spearfishing but hoping to continue to progress in the sport. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Anyone want to meet up and fish, please contact me!

In all honesty, you are right on all accounts. I'd sure hate to see that change. What's the first rule of Fight Club?

I'm heading down to Cabo and La Paz 3/14-19
I'm a novice spearo from NorCal, hoping to link up with some locals or an outfitter and learn as much as I can

Where would you recommend for shore/reef diving?
Any pangeros or outfitters you might recommend for the Sea of Cortez side?

I will be in Baja (la paz) with two other friends spearing from the 12-16 of march. We have something already arranged but have one or two days extra where we could possibly meet and spear. Contact me if interested. 7134476218

I'm confused. Are you Mike Mcguire or just a guy who rents from him? Does Mike McGuire own this property or is he just another spearo who rents from the owner? Is the whole house rented out, so that spearos can go as a group, or does the owner live on site and just rent a room or?

Re: Baja this Spring??

Yes I am Mike McGuire and I do own this Villa and Casita: www.vrbo.com/339293
I try to write up Baja reviews from my visits every spring and post reports from all the spearos that stay there too. I am there for May and when I have room your welcome to drop in to do some diving. Other wise the facility is set up with a Casita for 2,,,,, about $800 a week with taxes and cleaning. Or the villa which can handle 12-14 and then 2 more in the Casita, 8 people about $2k / wk + $100 more per person for extra people the week. Private beach, kayaks, hot spring tub, and the best view in Baja. I also have all the diving scouted out, local panga driver, deep freezer, vac sealers for your fish, gourmet kitchen.........
I dont live on site , I live in Co and dive a ton of fresh water if your ever interested.
This summer June -Sept I am offering a 1/2 off special for anyone paying before the end of March. Just started and 1st and 3rd weeks in June are gone already so jump on it if your game. MM 970-216-5902
