Holy COW!!!
I figured the title would "lure" some of you guys in!
Total newbie, military diver and submariner, life-long hook and liner looking to start spearing next spring. Stationed in Groton, CT, willing to freedive eastern CT and RI. Looking for advice this winter to start- need gun(s), long fins, and accessories....I have the other dive gear/wetsuits and am comfortable in the water. Following load-out this winter, looking for buds to help with locations and techniques to get wet, then spear-on. Mainly looking to shore launch on weekends. Super excited- young kids have put the brakes on hobbies for the last 4-6 years, finally have the green light to get wet. Can't wait for the action- I'm really excited for what you guys can offer as I learn how to get into this new (for me) sport. Fire away or PM me, I'm ready to go.... Thanks in advance, Kevin |

Re: Holy COW!!!
I have an RA Tuna 80cm I'd let go for short money. Good tog gun. Also a pair of picasso black team fins, indestructible and good for learning. I think a size 42 or so. Also a pair of MAKO footpockets in about the same size which will fit most blades.
You'll want to get a rubber weight belt if you have a scuba one now. I recommend the mako kona kill knife. Definitely the best value around. Dano has a good deal on floatlines too. Lastly if you have scuba wetsuits you might want to look into freediving ones after you get into it a bit. |

Re: Holy COW!!!
Thanks everyone for the advice. I've got Rob's shop on my radar as a place to visit here soon to see what I need. I also appreciate the offers to help and for some of your gear.
I'm not jumping in on any purchases before xmas, but will certainly take you guys up on your offers/advice as the winter draws on and spring gets closer! Thanks again! |
