First Catalina Trip/speargun length question

Hey guys, going to Catalina for the first time on the 16th,17th and had a few questions ! After studying maps and talking to some fisherman, I've decided to get a skiff and mainly focus on harbor reef and bird rock. Currently have a 75cm gun, so going to get a new one before the trip, found a double 16mm rubber railgun but deciding on the lenth if anyone would have input on a 100, 110, or 120 that'd help a lot ! Also wondering what species I'm looking at encountering there outside of sheephead, calicos, etc. Thanks in advance for any answers and your time

Go with a 120, if you work the edges of the reef areas you might encounter some yellowtails or wsb. You'll want a gun that can reach out and penetrate. Also a reel or float line is definitely a must have.

..Be sure you know the difference between the Offshore conservation area (game spearfishing allowed) and the Blue Cavern Onshore conservation area where no spearfishing is allowed. You can dive legally off a bit from the west end of bird rock but, it would be wise to use a gps to ensure you are outside of the western edge of the boundry, as bird rock, per se, is within the no take zone..….F&W boarded me while we were anchored on top of bird rock but, didn't cite since we were diving off the rock to the west...However, we were cutting it pretty close....
...many of us old timers prefer a 68" long gun for blue water hunting...but, we are dinosaurs....

I camped out at Two Harbors a few months ago with a couple of dive buddies, dove off the beach. We all had 120cm guns. We saw sheep head, white fish, opal eye, sand bass, leopard shark one of my friends even caught a barracuda. Have fun!

This would be a worthy and affordable setup for those spots...

That'd be me no OC dives, not too familiar with the area. Dove Malaga a couple of weeks ago and it was horrible, visibility was maybe 2'!
